They always have a get out of jail clause in the terms and conditions (TOC no matter the site) and the right not to be sued, no matter how many lives their playgrounds lead to ruination. I wouldn't have you do anything about it, except understand that said 'get out of jail free card' is exactly why any post can be pulled, whether you agree that it should have been or not. Your opinion on it really doesn't factor into the decision made by the Mod at all.

I also wish that folks would get a grip on the fact that it doesn't automatically imply that the Mod that removed it was leftest. Even the LMIC (Lead Mod In Charge) has to follow any policies adopted by the owner of the site and follow them with the bests interests of the site in mind. It doesn't even mean that said Mod has to AGREE with said policies. It's just that the job requires they enforce them.

Status: offline 		Just to chip in. I have moderated on boards before where I have had to apply sanctions according to policies that I didn't necessarily agree with. It's not about being left or right, it's actually about being a grown up.

As a poster I have also had posts removed under policies that I didn't agree with. And sometimes I threw a right old hissy fit and behaved like a stupid little turd. But as a rule, I find that I got much better long term results by being a grown up about it.

Ops thread stands - I guess there is hope....but i storngly suspect its a re thread :(

Good sensible moderation aside. If a moderator breaks any sites TOC do you believe they should have the capacity to moderate and fall back in the get out of jail and fuk you all clause...yet i have seen many on all sites utlise scorched earth policy.

This action was taken due to our incorrect assumption that this posting contained derogatory content directed towards the gay community. In looking carefully at this posting it's apparent that this was not the case.

We do our best to provide an open platform for dialogue and debate on a wide spectrum of issues while at the same time trying to minimize gratuitous attacks on particular individuals or groups. In this case we got it wrong and, to be clear, the decision to remove this content was made by the site itself and not by our moderators.

If in the future, we make similar mistakes kindly point them out to us as was done here. This thread has been restored and moving forwards, we'll try to pause a bit longer before removing content in situations of this character and will try harder to make sure that we make the right call.

Please feel free to voice criticisms you might have of our website at any time. That being said we ask users of our forums to kindly refrain from ad hominem comments directed towards moderators or other users.

I answer this question all of the time. If I owned this business, I would be doing what was in the best interest of this business. A part of that is enforcing ToS and the forum guidelines. It does not equate to letting everything that the members post to stand.

I didn't say anything of the sort. All of the long term posters know that there were two former LMIC that screwed up royal around here. It wasn't over piddly little things like removing threads or pulling posts. I'm talking about some really major stuff and most of the long term members are familiar with the situations. I do happen to think that any of the Admins should be held to a higher standard regarding ToS, especially any of those section that have the potential to have law enforcement intervention over things that happen on the site.

Hopefully, that will answer your questions.

It is difficult to reinvent the wheel. Until a more appropriate moniker is devised I will stick with punkassmotherfucker. Oh for fuck's sake. How can I maintain my righteous indignation when you're being all fair and reasonable about things?

My apologies to moderator 25 or whomever might have felt attacked by this thread. In the past, the moderation has been outrageously biased and being censored because my opinions ruffle a few feathers has become depressingly common. I may have overreacted.

An individual's reactions to words are an inherent part of social interactions with them.

I don't refer to any gay man as a faggot unless his interactions with me demonstrate that the word itself is irrelevant to him. Even then, it's not something I'd whip out in casual conversation unless it was for comedic effect and I knew with certainty that he wouldn't be offended.

I live in a real white part of the country and rarely run into African Americans - even so, I can't imagine a context under which I'd ever use the word "nigger" unless they were going all hip-hop on me and were all "wassup my nigga" upon bumping into me some day. And that's pretty unlikely.

But as for "cunt" and women? Fuck that shit. Women here - and elsewhere - call men 'pricks' all the fucking time. If I call anyone a cunt, it's because they deserve it - male or female - so I'm not going to hold myself back for the delicate sensibilities of a woman just because she's a woman.

After all, that would be patriarchal and sexist.
