Thank you, you have confirmed that the advocates of the Reps engageing in a PR disaster are pro gun control.

Yes, I saw that and thought it should be pointed out, if there is going to be any legitimate discussion on the article.

I am opposed to gun free zones per se, however I do favor not allowing them in both college and military dorms. You are trying to expanf the anti gun free zone position to something entirely different. Sad thing is you most likely believe it.

No, I am aware of the statistics regarding shootings in gun free zones vs. gun friendly areas. But considering the statements that the candidates have made, I would like to hear what they have to say about this. Especially when it comes to schools. Not just secondary and primary either. It is already allowed in some colleges, where professors are now expressing fears, and rightly so.

It's a conversation, one that needs to play out, at some point. It is no less relevant because of how it originated. The fact is that there are repubs latching onto it and giving it legitimacy.

Mass shootings take place almost exclusively in gun free zones.
When there are ccw carriers present the shooting comes to an end before it reaches the "mass shooting" threshold. Also people who plan on shooting a lot of people know they can do more damage in a gun free zone.
Great example of an attempted mass shooting was when a guy trying to emulate the Columbine shooters went to a stripe mall to do his damage, fortunately the first place he hit was an indoor shooting range, the receptionist took him out and he was the only victim of his rampage.

Right, and nothing about gun control, my response was to Bama, not you.

I realize that.

quote:

Further, nothing there is satire, thats something you said that is not in evidence.

While the petition reads like a rallying cry from a staunch gun rights activist, Jim, who asked that his surname not be used out of concerns for his and his family’s safety, says he started it to prompt a national conversation about guns in America.

(from your article out of newsweek.) there is nothing there negative, nothing about control, nothing about satire, nothing about nutsuckers.............:) that nutsucker stuff imploding and their cowardice and their asswipe about carry and they dump that like the diarrhea out of their mouth.....

Yes, and if you had not clipped the quote where you did, the very next sentence says...
“It is satire,” Jim tells Newsweek during a phone conversation on Tuesday morning.

quote:

So, a guy does the petition, and there is no disingenuousness in it, nor is there anything in his words that indicates pro gun
.

He was not being disingenuous...it was promoted by a Twitter post he made and the responses he got from it. He has been upfront about that.

However, most of those reporting on it failed to catch that.

I assume you are talking about the would be shooter.
With that in mind, I agree.
Aparently he had heard how armed civilians are all cowards who don't have the guts to fight back.

What a bad argument Bama....before the dumb ass proliferation of guns we had the same gun free zones and no mass murders. It is not gun free zones the problem but guns... that is what has changed... common sense says that.

There were even more gun free zones then so by your thinking we should have had even more mass shootings than today... did that happen?

Butch

Fair point, well made. I glossed over that bit, did not originally see it. My apologies. You are absolutely right about that, and I am absolutely wrong about that.

Nevertheless, all my other statements regarding this stand.

Sorry, but gun free zones are a relativly recent developement.
No we didn't.

kdsub -> RE: Allow Guns at GOP Convention? (3/31/2016 4:08:56 PM)

No they are not recent Bama... new gun laws have just reduced them... The same gun free zones today were gun free zones years ago.

Butch

AtUrCervix -> RE: Allow Guns at GOP Convention? (3/31/2016 4:10:56 PM)

Get over it people....the Detroit PD and the Feds decided...no guns.

Get the fuck over it.

I don't know where you get your information, or what time frame you are talking about but you are wrong. When I went to high school it was not uncommon for students to have rifles in their pick ups at school, not gun free, and no shootings in any high schools. The laws keep narrowing down the places that are not gun free. We recently got a law that narrows the places you can carry.

Well, the places you can carry at the RNC convention in Cleveland are particularly narrow....

(They are....not at all....not even remotely and....NOT).

Yep, promoted by pro gun control people and stopped by the Secret service.

kdsub -> RE: Allow Guns at GOP Convention? (3/31/2016 4:22:22 PM)

Guns were not allowed at my school...Some private schools had gun clubs but even then guns were not allowed in the school... every single gun free zone today was gun free 30 years ago... Now they did not have to screen for weapons like they do today because guns that could be concealed were not legal.

Butch

But you lived in that St Louis cesspool. Your claim that they did not have concealble weapons 30 years ago shows how little you know. There have been easilly concealable firearms readily avaliable for over 150 years.
We done have metal detectors down here. They are reserved for cesspools like St Louis

kdsub -> RE: Allow Guns at GOP Convention? (3/31/2016 4:28:27 PM)

No my friend...Below are the exceptions to the gun free school zone for instance... today as in your youth you are allowed to have a weapon in your car.

[18 U.S.C. § 922(q)(2)(A)] does not apply to the possession of a firearm—
(i) on private property not part of school grounds;
(ii) if the individual possessing the firearm is licensed to do so by the State in which the school zone is located or a political subdivision of the State, and the law of the State or political subdivision requires that, before an individual obtains such a license, the law enforcement authorities of the State or political subdivision verify that the individual is qualified under law to receive the license;
(iii) that is—
(I) not loaded; and
(II) in a locked container, or a locked firearms rack that is on a motor vehicle;
(iv) by an individual for use in a program approved by a school in the school zone;
(v) by an individual in accordance with a contract entered into between a school in the school zone and the individual or an employer of the individual;
(vi) by a law enforcement officer acting in his or her official capacity; or
(vii) that is unloaded and is possessed by an individual while traversing school premises for the purpose of gaining access to public or private lands open to hunting, if the entry on school premises is authorized by school authorities.
Pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 922(q)(3)(B):
[18 U.S.C. § 922(q)(3)(A)] does not apply to the discharge of a firearm—
(i) on private property not part of school grounds;
(ii) as part of a program approved by a school in the school zone, by an individual who is participating in the program;
(iii) by an individual in accordance with a contract entered into between a school in a school zone and the individual or an employer of the individual; or
(iv) by a law enforcement officer acting in his or her official capacity.

Shit, the nutsuckers are going to let the secret service abridge their constitutional rights? Here I thought nutsuckers were gonna throw the fuck down on the tyrannical government and do their constitutional duty, now you are telling me they are pussies defeated by a pen.

Must be a lot of southerners in that nutsucker battalion, they surrender so easily. I spose, gotta get home to their welfare checks.

Well we know the nutsuckers are, at the RNC. Now you know why the army didnt need their help, they can sort of guard a pizza delivery or a bakery, maybe as much as a coffee shop, but thats about all.

School gun free act came into being in 1990, hardly in my youth.
Before that individual districts or states but the gun free zones became popular at that time.
Your beliefs, and I am sure you truely believe them, are wrong based as is so often the case of you believing bad sources.
