People can be stupid.

How many protestants can tell the difference between a dominican and a nobertine? Not stupid just ignorant.
Now if he had been a jesuit or a franciscan that would have been stupid.

bounty44 -> RE: Good grief.... (4/7/2016 3:39:33 AM)

being as the situation is telling a priest apart from the kkk, I trust we'll be looking forward to your logic as to how discernment between the different catholic orders is relevant to the conversation.

and by way of a challenge---see if you can do it without name calling and insulting?

Nobertines and dominicans wear white robes, jesuits wear black robes and franciscans wear brown robes. They are color coded[;)]

If they can't tell the difference between a whip and a rosary they are stupid.

Quite often it is not a rosary but a cincture/belt. Which is a hunk of rope about a 1/2" in diameter and about 6' long and doubled and wrapped around the waist. The rope/cincture has knots which have some significance to each order of priest. Yes they used it as a whip. Corporal punishment being common practice in catholic schools.

Penitenziagite

I had never heard that word before but yes they would beat the hell out of us with it demanding that we repent of what ever they were pissed about.

I'm less concerned with the lack of knowledge to distinguish between a priest and a KKK garment and more concerned with the fear hysteria and demands the university campus "make them feel safe." College isn't just about gaining more knowledge. It is about venturing out of your safe zones and expanding your experiences and minds. Kids seem to be leaving home and expecting the campus staff to be their parents. Fail all over the place. Critical thinking fail, fear hysteria fail, just plain old fail.

I agree with your opinions about the purpose of college. I remain unconvinced that the situation is as dire as you predict...but then I live in california and we have berkeley which many would classify as anarchy inc.[:D]

I don't think it is dire. I think it unfortunate, and sad and perhaps a little pathetic. Fear is a natural response meant to heighten our awareness of dangers and prepare us physically and mentally to react to immediate threats. Young adults seem to be afraid of fear, and demanding they be coddled and protected from any and all dangers and putting the responsibility of their fears (imagined or genuine) on others. There seems to be an expectation of - and I hate to use this word - entitlement.

With the exception of the religious colleges I don't think the nanny has that strong of a hold on our colleges and universities.
In fact, if we read the cite posted the response by the administration seemed to be rational..."some kid has let their imagintion run amok...I should go and check it out before someone has a cow."

LOL, I approve of that response! Actually, if you insert a heavy, resigned sigh - it sounds like something I'd say.

In contrast to Emory offering counseling to students who were "traumatized" by: "#Trump2016".

Scripps (in California - surprise! Surprise!) had a student that called that a "violent act" and a "hate crime".

Yeah, we're indoctrinating some good, little "soldiers", these days!

He probably bankrupted on those students, but they can't bankrupt on student loans. He is a felchgod of the nutsuckers, they cant get jobs because they are all over seas, they are lazy louts. Ergo. Trauma.

I wonder what the world would be like today, if the heroes I grew up with had claimed trauma and needing counseling instead of standing up against the racism and discrimination.
