Place where political correctness means - you can't challenge people's sensitivities because of 'safe spaces'.

Where they think allowing prostitution to be legal and arresting johns ... sounds like a good idea.

A place where Big Gulps are illegal and denying climate ... should be.

Your thoughts?

New York is the center of the Known Universe (other than of course....m'se'f....however....as to NYC....I'll gladly take second place).

New York is the beginning.....and the end....it is where all good things emanate from and....where I'd prefer to be.

New York is a fantastic place, requiring SHITLOADS of money to survive in, whether upstate (taxes) or in The City (cost)....it's where the action is....it's where dreams begin, end and.....begin again.

"If you can make it anywhere...."

It's where dreams begin.....and.....begin again (and....for the official record....for those who have truly experienced NYC {and for those who have not}....there is not one single redundancy in that last....or this....comment).

It's where the best motherfucking food on EARTH exists....in the strangest of places...corners....alcoves....dark hidden streets...it's where you can't find a parking space and....where you can....it costs 3 times what you thought was....entirely outfuckingrageous.

And the food....makes every penny worth spending....(error...."investing").

The food.....there's no possible way to describe the food....

Art....other than Paris....or the Getty in L.A., NYC IS where art lives. MOMA....others....it's where art begins it's journey....and....it's every bit....circular.

(You can't start searching for/looking for/at art....and not start in NYC.....and if you end up any {other} place else in the end....you didn't look hard enough).

It's where you can walk the streets in Chelsea and find the best gawdamned burger place that ever was.

(And ever will be).

(And you'll only find it by walking....in a city of cars).

It is....to be succinct.....(and I don't live there....wish I did) all that is good is, was....and always will be.

And those of you that live there or....frequent....understand my passion.

NYC is singularly....well....NYC. An enigma but....a beautiful whore....sucking you dry if you allow it to but...bringing life if you know how to find it/feed it/fund it.

You can only be breathless walking through NYC/Manhattan/The Bronx/Queens....it's the greatest gawdamn city on Earth.

(And if, at the end...you weren't....breathless....you weren't paying attention).

There IS no other city.

On the entire planet.

NYC is "it".

End of discussion.

You really need to get out more.

Nah. He called the city shit. He's got it right. LMAO

Actually....I called "The City".....THE shit.

(Because....it is).

I think you're failing to take into consideration the fine qualities of other great cities, such as Blythe, California. They have good food there, some of the most famous restaurants on Earth: McDonald's, Carl's Jr., Jack in the Box. They even have a Denny's for those who prefer high-class dining establishments (where a server actually takes your order at your table).

They have legalized Big Gulps, and even Super Big Gulps, too. As for art museums...well, the whole city is a work of art. But there's the Patton Museum down the road in Chiriaco Summit. They have tanks there on display. Does the MOMA have any tanks? I'll bet they don't.

The climate is wonderful, and the summers are not nearly as hot as they are in Death Valley.

I think there are other cities in California along the coast which are almost as nice as Blythe. Some folks say that Los Angeles is "it," and while it's still much better than NYC, it still can't top Blythe.

I'll admit...there are other great cities...Paris....Luxemburg....London....even Chicago...but none...compare.

NYC...is beyond description (those that live there/have been there....know....those haven't...."strikeout comments"...).

If you ain't been there....you have no concept.

If you have...you'd never argue.

Yes, I've spent time in NYC. I've been there. I didn't really take your first comment seriously; I thought you were joking. That's why I responded as I did.

It's the place dude....it's all that is.

It's everywhere.

It's all...and more.

I've been there many times. Each time, I can't wait to leave.

Amazing theater. Libraries. Art.
Insufferable traffic - way too many people. Way too much attitude. I like San Fran more than NY. London. Paris. Prague.

I've been there, and every big east coast city (except Atlanta) from Boston to Miami. There are only two I try to avoid at all costs because they're miserable places: New York and Philadelphia.

Boston is a beautiful, picturesque, historic city. Pittsburgh has a unique charm to it with the rivers and blue-collar roots. Baltimore is violent and dirty, but almost as picturesque as Boston. Washington, DC is the actual center of the planet, and compared to New York, dirt cheap to visit (all the museums in the Smithsonian complex are free, as are the vast majority of the National Park Service sites), and the Metro is FAR cleaner and nicer than NYC's subway. South of DC, the beaches start to get a lot nicer.

NYC does have theater. The libraries and art are better and much less expensive in DC.

Go into a shithole like Pascagoula, or Biloxi, or Texas, or the tawdry paperthing asswipe of Florida, I think New York stands up to any other large city.

Yep. Philly is a horrible place, and worse than New York. The people are even nastier than New Yorkers. Made the mistake of going to a Phillies game once wearing an Orioles hat. I didn't get mugged, but it wasn't a pleasant experience. And Eagles fans are notorious for hating Santa Claus. Sadly, I can't completely avoid going there.

So I'll admit it. New York isn't as bad as Philadelphia.

It's a MUCH better city to visit than New York. It's even easier to get to. Even the bad neighborhoods have cool attractions... Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens comes to mind.

I think it depends on what one values. Some people couldn't care less about art or opulence and prefer a city with a more favorable climate. Or they might prefer a lower population density.

They don't grow or mine anything in NYC, so they have very little that I can personally use. My TV, computer, truck, and other possessions were all made in other places - not NYC. If NYC completely vanished tomorrow, the country would get along just fine without it. Seriously. Sure, maybe the art museums might be a loss, but we'll make new art and display it someplace else. No big deal.

While I recognize its historical importance to America, but apart from that, NYC is really just a lot of fluff and feathers; nothing of substance there. Los Angeles is also fluff, but at least they have a better climate. Plus, there's Disneyland.
