Most gun owners I know are MENSA eligable.

Two points.
1. That may well be, but obviously that cannot be the case for the majority of gun owners in the US, there are simply too many of them for them to be MENSA eligible
2. Being Mensa eligible is no measure of mental stability.

No, I am not an exception.

I would think that somebody who was MENSA eligible would know how to spell eligible, or at least know how to use spell check on their browser.

That wouldn't mean they can type.
And my spell checker doesn't work.
True there are two many gun owners for the vast majority to be MENSA eligible, however I was responding to someone claiming that all (or vitually all) gun owners are idiots, simply absurd.
Don't you know that sometimes really bright people can't spell?
The second part you quoted was in response to the otters claim that I must not be MENSA eligible. I know that many smart people are unstable, Ted Bundy for example. However I also know that highly intelligent people will find a better way to committ crimes than with a firearm. Use a gun and you leave a trail that leads right to your doorstep. And I have no desire to associate with people who are together to congradulate themselves on how much better they are than the "masses".

Gun laws are necessary because the average person is just too damn mentally unstable to wield the power of life and death.

A gun is a tool, like a car or a table saw. Would I leave a table saw running with a child in the shop while I ran an errand? No. A gun has no more power of life and death than a table saw.

I think someone who thinks they have the power, smarts, and right to vet someone to use a table saw is a sick ego.

I've got to say, I've known a couple of people who've claimed MENSA membership but couldn't spell to save their lives. As well as ones who couldn't string simple sentences together, or reason their way through an argument with a primary school kid.

Mind you, I do wonder: I reckon that I've come across about equal numbers of alleged MENSA members as I have 'ex SAS soldiers'. I do often think, 'Nnnnyesss, if you say so.' No skin off my nose - if it keeps certain people happy, good for them.

I never said I was a MENSA member.
I said I was MEMSA eligible, not the same thing.
Just like we all know an alleged Marine from a long line of alleged military officers (three generations of officers and he was allegedly an NCO) who doesn't know the first thing about firearms, the military, or self defense.

I tested well enough to get in, even you should know that was the meaning, but maybe you didn't so I will forgive your (almost certainly deliberate) mistake.
Check the requirements anyone who can get into the 208 AFSC can get into MENSA, and I was one of the highest in that feild, unfortunately I had ears of stone.

There is no limit to the number of times you can test. Everyone is eligible. I got a best rester award in kindergarten, and not every jamoke on the street has one of those.

You believe what you have too, and I only had to test once, but if you peaked out in kindergarden at least you did something.
We didn't have kindergarden where I was at that age.

I was a hard E5 in an infantry MOS (not my assigned MOS) in 1 year and 8 months. (later than my best rester award) If I would have reenlisted I would have been an e6 at 2 years 11 months and 1 day. I would have been the Sergeant Major of the Army at an age under 40. You took 18 years to get a boot as an E5 and a waste of government oxygen (not an insurmountable metric to be a slitthering worm and making retirement), now you guard pizza drivers. You will never have a noticeable peak by anyone who is more than a nematode.

It sort of went without saying, till you said it, that you are a child left behind. Alabama schools run 3rd worst in education, but thats probably up from your time.

But don't feel as though life has cheated you, you must have been valedictorian of your class down there, bout all you had to do was keep from shitting your pants constantly. Oh, don't tell me...........wasn't you Mr. Mensa-Eligible?

When I was in, in the Air force you couldn't make e4 in under 4.
So your resorting to that crap has no bearing on my situation.
Army moved up faster cause so many like you jumped ship as soon as they could. You were drafted, I volunteered.

This thread isn't about me and MENSA
It isn't about how slow people got promoted in the Airforce
It isn't even about how much you drink
It is about silly leftest positions.
Get back on subject
And yes when I mentioned it it was relevant as it was in response to how stupid all gun owners are.
I didn't even say anything about my being qualified till you jumped in with your snark so lets stop derailment and get back on subject.

DC's corollary to Godwin's Law:

"As a Collarchat thread grows longer, the probability of debating guns approaches 1."

OH,fuck, you were in the air force? even a lower standard.

You are right, this thread isnt about how fucking stupid you are.
This thread isnt about you marrying your sister.
This thread isnt about you being a welfare patient.
This thread isnt about your nutsuckerisms.
then dont make it about you. Mensa does not equate to smart. Even though you weren't actually in it, but you are eligable, and I did no snark, you just sort of volunteered how smart you are.

Repent of your stupidity, and you wont be hammered.

But you gotta admit a welfare red stater, sitting on his porch guarding the pizza with his little gun, and talking about how smart he is ----- Well, you just cant make shit up like that.
