Many Pro-Dommes say it's a legitimate practice to have money put into their paypal account before meeting. They say it shows the authenticity of the person.

And what other things do you believe just because somebody on the internet told you?

I'll give you a freebie. ToS prevents people from telling you that you are stupid.

LadyPact
There is no reason to throw out insults. I'm here to warn people. If you have any leverage with collarspace tell them to put back the red warning sentence.

Why? I don't need it and it's got nothing to do with me if you were dumb enough to fall for it. Believe me, if I had any influence with collarspace, I'd be going for something a lot higher on my priority list. Not some version of 'a fool and his money are soon parted'.

If you were aware of the red warning sentence, why didn't you read about common scams on the internet before giving people your money? Why would you assume other people are dumb enough to do it so that they would need a warning? Doesn't seem to me that you're giving other people much credit.

But, if you really need it, here's a neat little link that goes back to that page. http://www.collarspace.com/personals/scammers.htm

Why? It's not as if you bothered to heed it's warning. Do you think it would affect others differently? Do you think everyone else might not be as dim as you?

Not everything has to do with you. You aren't the center of the Universe.

Like What?

Because since I got webcam verification I thought she was authentic. I don't know if you realize this or not, but many Dommes require a paypal deposit before meeting them. It's standard practice.

Why would you assume other people are dumb enough to do it so that they would need a warning? Doesn't seem to me that you're giving other people much credit.
People do it all the time. That's why they used to have the warning. If no one did it they wouldn't have to have the warning. People aren't dumb who do this. Again, many Dommes require it.

But, if you really need it, here's a neat little link that goes back to that page. http://www.collarspace.com/personals/scammers.htm

PeonForHer -> RE: The New Scam (4/11/2016 5:27:22 PM)

People are *very* jaded here, ilovestarbucks. We've heard of most of the scams and the few that we've not heard of don't surprise us. If there's a way of someone bullshitting in order to get an advantage over you, somebody will find it and use it. All the tentative sociopaths who wanted to give free rein to their proclivities with impunity can now do so, thanks to the Net. That's just how it is these days, I'm afraid.

You're not the center of the universe, either. However, just like you, I have things that I consider more important than others. This doesn't effect me, so it's not high on my priority scale.

quote:

Like What?

Oh, things that effect our kink communities as a whole, like showing a greater stance against things like consent violations, stalkers, outers, and under age violators. Greater exposure of cases like 'Master Bob,' Mr Handcuffs, and the Mike Makai incidents. You know. The stuff where people end up dead.

Because since I got webcam verification I thought she was authentic. I don't know if you realize this or not, but many Dommes require a paypal deposit before meeting them. It's standard practice.

Wait a minute. You've been ripped off at least three times and you're going to lecture me about how legitimate pro dommes do business? Bro, I've got a sense of humor. You don't have to prove it by making me laugh that hard.

quote:

People do it all the time. That's why they used to have the warning. If no one did it they wouldn't have to have the warning. People aren't dumb who do this. Again, many Dommes require it.

That's a matter of opinion.

Do you know what the difference is between ignorance and stupidity? Ignorance is a lack of education. Stupidity is behavior that shows a lack of good sense or judgement. Since you knew that warning was posted when you joined the site and even reference it, which of those definitions best fit this situation?

LadyPact

See, there you go again, calling people stupid, dumb, etc. Those are really hurtful words.

People create a collarspace profile and they try out the forums. They think, "Oh, this is a cool place to chat with like minded people." Then they read you calling people names. They get hurt, close their account, and join Fetlife.

Actually, if 'people' think this is rough and join Fet, they've got a huge surprise coming to them on Fet. I'm on Fet. In comparison, this is light. It does not bug me in the least if people can't handle the forums here. I'm here for the forums but I'm not here to coddle people.

To clarify, I didn't call "people" stupid. You're inferring people are stupid for lacking the common sense to fall for such a thing that you need to warn them. Maybe you need a pro to hurt your feelings so you'll stop making bad decisions and sending them money.

When someone repeatedly does something foolish, something that they know is foolish, and something they have been repeatedly warned against; is it unfair to call that person stupid? It's no longer mere ignorance at that point.

I only wish all such people would close their accounts and flee to Fetlife.

On Fetlife it is against the rules to call people names and it gets enforced. However, you take the liberty to call people names. I could easily call you both names on this site too. But I'm above that. I don't have to sink to your level.

MissKatya -> RE: The New Scam (4/11/2016 6:42:48 PM)

Ok, pumpkin....let me explain a few things in one message because this whole "I'm a victim" is getting really old.

quote:

MissKatya
FieryOpal

You both didn't read what I wrote. I wrote:
"What they do is they collect all your banking information so they can "wire" the money into your account. Well, guess what?! They take money out."
You just read 1/2 the sentence and then assumed I was a Pro-Domme.

I did see what you wrote-I made it a point to mention this sentence for a reason.

I'm assuming that "they"=pro-dommes. If my assumption is correct, then they want your banking information to wire money INTO your account and that implies you that you are the dom/domme.

So, now that we are past that, let's go onto your next gem of wisdom.

quote:

Because since I got webcam verification I thought she was authentic.

Well...define authentic. Anyone can post an ad, claim to be a domme and hop onto skype and then disappear. Did you check for reviews posted online? A number search? Email search? Photo search (to make sure they aren't stolen photos?). Did she have a website? Did you check for any of this?

Even a fly by night domme will have some form of an internet footprint, whether it's a phone number, a skype name or a stolen photo.

quote:

I don't know if you realize this or not, but many Dommes require a paypal deposit before meeting them. It's standard practice.

I have to correct you on this, sparky. Most pro-dommes will require a deposit in a convenient and discreet method in order to schedule a session. It doesn't have to be paypal-in fact, most will not use paypal because of the company's stance on the adult industry.

And with that being said, I'll go into my personal experience with pro-domination.

I require deposits before I meet with anyone. I also have a website, a heavy internet presence, a searchable phone number, reviews, message board interaction and 16 years experience under my belt. If someone wanted to search me and see if I am legit, all they have to do is pull up my name.

75% of the time, those who contact me already have experience with seeing a pro-domme so they already know where to search for a domme and they know what to look for in finding a reputable pro-domme. The other 25% who are novices still know how to do basic homework on covering their ass.

So when someone contacts me and we mesh well in our interests, the next step is to schedule a session and leave a deposit. If someone doesn't feel comfortable leaving a deposit because they are concerned that I may "scam" them, they have any one of the options mentioned above to verify my existence.

And guess what? It works.

So while you are correct that most pro-dommes require a deposit, it doesn't take much to make sure that the person you are contacting is not going to fuck you over...Unless that is your thing and you purposely go out of your way to look for shady characters to willingly hand money over to.

As the saying goes, "a fool and his money are soon parted"...

If you don't like being called stupid, stop doing stupid things. Simple enough, no?

No, I did not. But I assure you next time I will do all this before I send them money.

Well, most people on this site will disagree with you. They think if you send ANY money to a Pro-Domme before meeting her it's a scam. Even if I did what you say, and then send the money online, they still call me "stupid."

I require deposits before I meet with anyone.
I know, this is standard practice. I hope LadyPact and Stef reads this. That way they will stop calling people stupid.

I see reading comprehension isn't one of your things, either. I even told you that ToS prevents me from calling you stupid.

Would you like for me to go pull you some posts from Fet where people absolutely do directly call other people stupid? Hey, I'll make a prediction right now that this thread will hit one of the spotting groups over on the other site and you'll have people on that site making no reservations about calling you stupid.

I didn't even nail you on the belief that you think this is "new". The fact that you think it's new shows how unaware you are compared to how long this has been around. Since another poster has put it up, I don't have to go into the detail of all the areas you failed to do your research.

Geez, dude. It's not like you live in the middle of nowhere that a decent pro couldn't be found. Not people who are just taking your money because you're sending it to them from a couple of emails on the internet.

And they can disagree with me as much as they wish-I'm giving you my personal experience as someone who is familiar with the topic demographic. And I read their responses a few times and not once did I see them say that to you. It's implied that you are "stupid" because you willingly throw your money to anyone online without researching the pro-domme first.

quote:

I know, this is standard practice. I hope LadyPact and Stef reads this. That way they will stop calling people stupid.

Well, they aren't exactly wrong. You have a habit of doing this, despite past suggestions to protect your financial ass, which leads everyone here to believe that you either have the IQ of a coffee cup or this is your "thing" and enjoy the humiliation.

Either way, we expect you to be back in a month or two bitching about another scam that you fell victim to.

But I'm done with responding. I think I said more than enough.

Or you could go to munch which costs you the price of what you order, a meal or a drink. You could meet Dommes real time. Then you would KNOW they are really real.

We met a guy. He doesn't have a lot of money. He isn't good looking. He's 55 years old. Asked him to go to munch. There he met a couple Dommes looking for a stunt bottom so they could practice their rope work. Cost was less than $10 at the restaurant. Or you can do as you have been doing. Send money to Dommes you have never met face to face. He stunt doubled for months for them...for the price of one meal at a Chinese restaurant once a month. You have got to see where you went wrong. He was smart. You....well....apparently you have money to throw away.
