Any truly objective assessment of him and given that he took over for who was easily the worst president in this country's history, 1 or 2 term...a whole lot better president than most.

However I would think that Johnson being a two faced racist and at least a big a crook as Nixon would have to rank high on everyones list of bad presidents. Grant had to most corrupt administration in history. He personally seems to have been honest but he surrounded himself with war buddies, most of whom were crooked as a snake. James Buchanan, look up failure in the dictionary and it has his picture. Carter, dismantled the military and the intelligence community, the later leading directly to the marine barracks in Beruit. He was weak and inefecttual .
