And?

The average rate of sea level rise is 1.8 mm per year.

We left an ice age. We can either have ice and cold weather. Or warmer weather, more food, and more people, and gradually elevating sea levels. The impact of cold weather is far worse than warmer weather.

Greta75 -> RE: Does anybody here truly not believe in Climate Change? (5/9/2016 10:41:49 PM)

Phydeaux, so gist of the matter, do you think it's just a nature cycle that we can do nothing about?
You don't think there is even any men caused contribution to it?

I know pretty much everybody agrees that the world is warming at the moment, except for those who believe in the impending ice age coming.

I think the key is, is it man caused or not.

RinsingDomme -> RE: Does anybody here truly not believe in Climate Change? (5/9/2016 10:59:55 PM)

There is far too much evidence too even deny human impact and climate change.
Can we blame ALL of climate change on humans? No. The world will change regardless but we are having a HUGE impact on it.
People think climate change is just "global warming" which isn't even a correct term to use but it is so much more than that. It affects the ocean and marine species, ecosystems, wildlife, the whole circle of nature, people's livelihoods, etc. I just wish more people would realize how serious it is.

Greta75 -> RE: Does anybody here truly not believe in Climate Change? (5/9/2016 11:04:27 PM)

If it's nature caused, then there is seriously nothing we can do about it anyway, but prepare for demise in years to come.

But if it's human caused, there is a big group of people who don't believe human caused this for some reason, and I think, every single doubt they have, needs to be scientifically addressed, before the whole world can take this seriously and start making changes to try to reduce the things that causes this.

RinsingDomme -> RE: Does anybody here truly not believe in Climate Change? (5/9/2016 11:07:12 PM)

It is a mixture of both. And it is being scientifically addressed in many states, many states have climate change action plans that you can look up. But sadly, several states are still beating around the bush with the big "CC" word since it is so controversial.

Actually...I disagree. If the life of our planet was one day....humans have been here mere minutes and we've been tracking climate for a second.

I don't rule out climate change, but the length of vigilent observation hasn't been long enough to determine if it's the earth's cycle or humans.

I think it bears more observation than what we have.

So you don't think greenhouse gases have anything to do with climate change? .....Interesting.

(This was actually to OsideGirl, I am new to this site!)

No prob. It took me a while to get used to how it works.
If you use the Fast Reply box it automatically assigns the post to be a reply to whoever posted last. To avoid that click the little reply button on the actual post you are replying to.

Also there is a forum convention where you put an "FR" at the start of a post to indicate that it is a Fast reply to the whole thread rather than to any specific person.

Hope that helps.

Which then becomes a huge socialist transfer of wealth to China, India and various third world countries that are pounding out more energy and carbon at ever growing rates.

I don't think thats the key question, or even necessarily an interesting question. The simple fact is that a temperature rise of .04 degrees per year is not an emergency. Hell, its not even interesting.

We have 1/10 the temperature variation seen naturally in the 1600's. Even less than occured 9000 years ago.

The idea that this is an emergency is blatant alarmism and false. If you follow the money, the current movement is designed to benefit leftist organizations - people that have always been anti fossil fuel, anti the west, anti industry, anti science.

Do I think humans have caused some global warming? Perhaps. Do I think its proved - of that there is no doubt. No.
I think 50-100% of "warming" is explained by Svenmarks theory and Cern's observations. Which means that even if global warming is "true" the forcing caused by co2 is extremely weak, and we can expect no more than .5-1 degree of change going forward, even if nothing is done.

I think the whole thing is a multi-trillion dollar boondoggle. The money better spent on improving peoples lives, rather than ridiculous give aways to rich leftists that want to drive tesla's or prius.

An this may be a good thing if it wasn't being sold to the public as a cataclysmic situation in order to enable a socialist transfer of wealth scheme.

I'd be all in for a discussion on Dizzy's pic above. If honest politicians said lets have a national discussion of this...if the Sierra Club stepped up and said, okay instead of paying politicians to foist this on the public we'd like to convince you, the individual, it's in your interest to give the product of your labor toward this...if Walmart stepped up and said, okay we'll admit we like it because we're a huge corporation and can afford to pay for EPA regulations that will drive mom and pop stores out of competition with us...and Al Gore admits he's made hundreds of millions of dollars off the scheme and is willing to give that money to vincentml to redistribute willy nilly however he thinks best, or as his kool aide suppliers direct.

Amen. But they can't win the debate, so they reframe it (aka.. lie).

Nnanji -> RE: Does anybody here truly not believe in Climate Change? (5/10/2016 3:49:38 PM)

I agree. And my little screed didn't even get into the international quality of it with Obama agreeing the U.S. Will cap and trade energy while allowing China to build a new coal fired power plant every week for the next two decades because it's "fair" for them to get back their share of profits the U.S. Has stolen for decades. Or India, or third world countries with dictators threatening to derail the Paris accords if the U.S. didn't transfer more wealth to them and the dictatores hidden bank accounts.

You don't think temperatures rising every year is an emergency? How much increase of heat do you think we all continuously can take? I know when Oceans are unnaturally warm, many sea life dies. Corals die. When it gets too hot, more forest fires happens. And as icebergs melts, countries are in danger of being swallowed by the sea.

Do you agree that fossil fuel has a life span? It's not a unlimited source right? Regardless whether it's the cause of global warming or not, don't you think we all should move away from it, because eventually it will run out anyway? Isn't it good to start preparing for alternatives now?

What is "unnaturally warm?"

Looks like current temps aren't all that out of the ordinary, doesn't it?

What is going on now isn't starting to prepare for alternatives. Taking Billions of $$ and shifting it to other countries isn't preparing for alternatives, either. It's wealth redistribution, pure and simple.
