Maryland..Mr Hogan...thank you!!!

New Utah Law Will Require Abortion Doctors To Lie To Their Patients
A new Utah law that goes into effect on Tuesday will force doctors to shirk their promise to “do no harm” by dangerously over-anesthetizing women who seek a later abortion.
Informed by anti-abortion state lawmakers rather than by medical experts, the “Protecting Unborn Children Amendment” requires physicians to administer an anesthetic to any women seeking an abortion at 20 weeks of pregnancy or later, to “eliminate or alleviate organic pain to the unborn child.” Like many anti-abortion laws on the state level, Utah’s law rests on the unscientific belief that a fetus can feel pain at 20 weeks of gestation.
You want me to experiment on my patients.
Most states that introduce “fetal pain” legislation try to ban abortions entirely after 20 weeks — and at least 12 have been successful. Utah is the first to pass a anesthesia-related bill instead of outright prohibiting the practice. But according to physicians, it may as well be a ban.
“You’re asking me to invent a procedure that doesn’t have any research to back it up,” said Dr. Leah Torres, an OB-GYN who works at one of Utah’s two licensed abortion clinics, in an interview with the New York Times. “You want me to experiment on my patients.”

Donald Trump Promises To Appoint Anti-Abortion Justices To Supreme Court. The best way to ban abortion, he said, “is by electing me president.”

Nugent hasn't been forced to flee and join a terroristrevolutionary cell by the looming threat of liberal authoritarianism he was spending a lot of time publicly whining about, then?

OK. WEell I'll respond to all of them and see if anybody wants to respond to anything I say.

Completely irrelevant and of zero importance or interest.

Tens of Thousands of Gallons of Crude Oil Spill Into Gulf of Mexico

That's fucking awful. I mean, I realize that accidents will happen, but I really think that a lot more effort should be put into preventing them. Though until we know what caused this one we won't know if it was preventable. I think we really should be trying to minimize the amount of off-shore drilling we do.

Good for them. here in Ontario prescriptions of any sort are not covered by the provincial health plan (OHIP), so getting it can be somewhat problematic for lower income people. I know it has always been a major part of my budgeting each month, and you often have to shop around to find a clinic that will provide you with the pills at an affordable cost. Though there is some talk of the Feds instituting some sort of Pharmacare plan to cover prescriptions. I believe Quebec already covers birth control.
Though I do take exception to one line in the article "Family planning is essential for women’s rights". I think it is equally essential to men and women, it is essential to human rights.

Fucking pathetic really, but the anti-abortionists will try anything they can to do an end run around the law in order to try to make the procedure as difficult and unpleasant as possible for those that seek it. For example In New Brunswick it is technically legal to get an abortion on demand, but they have closed all the clinics and only authorized something like two hospitals in the whole province, so it is effectively nearly impossible to get one for most of the people there. And PEI is even worse, the last I heard, while it is legal, there simply is nowhere in the province where you can get one. This sort of shit really annoys the fuck out of me.

Good on you. In your order:
Agreed,

Agreed, except for the offshore drilling.

Agreed, except I don't quantify how much money other people have and what they do with it. I've actually been at a gun store when a handgun that had been used for a suicide went up for sale. That was creepy as well. It appeared most the regulars were not in the least interested. The sale brought in some creepy people,

Agreed, yet I wonder why when Bush was in office and Hollywood made a movie about killing him, that didn't seem to bother the people being bothered now by Nugent,

I googled the average cost of contraceptives here. Generic pills cost about $9.00 a month and according to Planned Parenthood non-generic cost from $15 - $50 a month here. I wonder why Canada is so expensive for prescription drugs.

Again, I wonder why obtaining health care services in Canada is difficult.

I do notice politicians as a class seem to say what is necessary to get elected.

I just got back...
Thanks Dizzy, I cant say I disagree with most of what you've said. There are a couple of things, if you give me some time, I can respond properly.

just one thing about the drug issue in ontario, specifically

quote:

WHile Ohip doesnt cover drug costs, a lot of employed people get drug/dental/vision and other care coverage thru their employer. While I work for myself, my three kids, 25-30 all get various amounts of coverage depending on the employer and the other insurance companies.

For low income peeps, there is the OPD http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/programs/drugs/
they do six different types of programs for low income. I had to use Trillium for 700 a month drug I took a few years ago, but yes, birth control can be a pain to hunt down for the cheap, I know my daughter has one that is 7$ I think, at least it was the last time we discussed it.
it isnt fun n games
Ive heard the talk about the pharma plan but havent seen much...it would make a difference.
I totally agree with you about the need for family planning for everyone. Its not just FP, its sexual ,mental AND physical health.
I need to go again, but ill be back

Considering something like 20 million barrels a year leak naturally from the ocean bottom in the gulf of mexico - it sounds like a lot of waaaaah over nothing.

There are places in So CA where oil is seeping from the seabed and washing up on the beaches all of the time. It's been suggested that drilling offshore would significantly reduce the problem.

Nnanji, I have an answer for you about the movies.

Since the movie about killing Bush was done by someone from the left, it was just a little satirical humor. Not to be taken serious, of course...just a little, good-natured fun-poking.

However...the movie about Sanders shooting Hillary was done by someone from the right so...

a. It is a reflection of what the right secretly hopes for

b. It is sickly twisted. A Democrat shooting another Democrat?!? The person who dreamt this up must be demented...therefore dangerous.

Not at all.
"I think it's despicable," Clinton said of "Death of a President," a fictional film that features a staged assassination of the president in 2007. "I think it's absolutely outrageous. That anyone would even attempt to profit on such a horrible scenario makes me sick."

Also it was not made by Hollywood, it was a British film.

I thought that threatening to kill the Pres was a crime in the US - whatever the style of threat and whoever had made it. Per e.g. this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threatening_the_President_of_the_United_States

I wouldn't worry too much about that one, Fido: you're probably a very long way down her list of people she wants getting anywhere near her honeypot.

It wasn't a threat, it was a movie, one of those made in a faux documentary style, where the premise is that Bush gets assassinated and Cheney takes over.
