Status: offline 		I can tell you one thing for sure.

I openly tell all my Christians friends that I hate their God and I hate Christianity. And they are still my friends. They know I am an atheist and I hate their religion and their God, and it doesn't matter to them. My Christian friends are of different race from me too. Some pitch dark South Indians.

But I can never tell a Muslim how much I hate their religion. They will always react in a terrible manner. Bigot, Racists, etc etc. Even IF it's a Chinese Muslim.

I mean, why do you think this is so?

I spent pretty much half of my education life in Christian school, and have all my life said plenty of terrible things about Christianity, as one of the rare non-christian in a Christian environment. I have done stupid shit like walk into a full church session and yell, God sucks! As a teenager. Well, nothing happened. They really "turn the other cheek" about it.

Because I want to know why being against Christianity is NOT seen as racism. But being against Islam is Racism? This seems to be a universal thing.

When the crazy thing is, Islam is practiced by many races. I consider for example Turkish people white. And that's a Muslim nation. We have WHOLE Christian nations, like South America and Philippines or Spain or Italy for example, that are of other races.

Some people are just super passionate and/or short-sighted when it comes to their beliefs. If someone who is Muslim, or even Christian, can't handle criticism or intellectual discourse, don't bother engaging in that conversation.

I assure you the majority of Muslims and Christians don't fall into the catagory of what you're describing. The reason why it seems relevant lately is because of the turmoil in the Middle East, and the Islamophobia that people naively fall for.

I think, maybe, that might be the issue for some people.

Your commentary only perpetuates the inaccuracy that the actions of Islamic extremists are somehow typical of Muslims.

Right, but that's why I say "naively". The people behind those horrific acts of violence are representing their own interpretation lslam. They're a small a minority, and its important to discern the difference between them and peaceful Muslims.

Status: offline 		It still doesn't explain why Muslims and people who aren't Muslims but support Muslims, are more outrage these days about anybody being against Islam, than against Christianity.

I have never ever seen in my life time, although I haven't been in this world long enough. But for hating Christianity to be associated with Racism. And I'm chinese! Christianity CERTAINLY did not come from my race!

Technically, if I hate Christians, it's more likely it's Racism. Yet with Islam, it's just treated differently. It's almost immediately gets a racism reaction.

You're correct in that there are peaceful Muslims. I've known a few (unless I was gravely deceived). However, I think you probably have your statistics backwards. I think we're seeing evidence that most Muslims fall into one of four categories:

(In order of percentages)

1) Muslims willing to turn a blind eye to what the more radical element is involved in, almost as if they are thinking: "Thank Allah! Someone is finally doing something !"

2) Muslims who truly are too scared to stand up and have their voices heard (They'd rather live on their knees and I have no use for them, either).

3) Rabid dog shitheads for whom hanging is too good.

4) Peaceful Muslims (and may Allah bless them).

There is no fucking way ISIS/Al Qaeda/Hezbollah/even the PLO (back in the day) could have gotten as far as they have without the tacit approval of a majority (possibly a small majority, but a majority, none-the-less) of fellow Muslims. The Nazis didn't think they were aggressors, either; just ridding the world of the unwanted like ISIS et. al.

Somebody mentioned it before that what you are harping on about is not racism.

And to answer your question: Those of Islam are intolerant of criticism.
They are soooo intolerant of it that it carries the death penalty.

I am mentioning racism, because I have seen on this forum and other forums, and on social media, quite a few left leaning people who thinks that the Muslims are poor misunderstood victims, been using the word "racist" towards people who criticize or disapproves of Islam.

I would maybe make the case that the order is 4, 2, 3, 1 in order from greatest to least.

I'm sorry to admit that yes, Muslims are probably too scared scared to stand up and speak out against the violence. However, what will speaking out really accomplish? It would likely cause a backlash. People would go from asking why they aren't advocating against to Isis to asking why they aren't fighting Isis. Nothing will ever satisfy.

You mentioned Nazi'ism. How many Germans, or Axis countries, rose up and spoke out against the atrocities against the Jews? No one. How long did the Crusades last before anything was accomplished? Religious persecution is difficult to grasp and get a handle over. And it can last a long time.

And back to those percentages, the percentage of Muslims who turn a blind eye are miniscule - if they exist at all. You don't have to be a scholar to grasp the cruel nature of ethnic/religious cleansing.

Status: offline 		So recently, our country busted, 2 terrorist cells that are operating on ISIS orders within the bangladeshi foreigners, who came from Muslim majority country.

The post reaction to that is, the bangladeshi workers who are just here to work and feed their families and can't be bothered with religious wars, are all afraid to be mistaken as terrorists. So in reaction, many of them shave their beards and stop dressing in traditional Muslim garb. And just dress normal and try to look as non-muslim as possible lol. Because all those arrested and there was like 26 of them or something, all had that traditional look.

All I can say is. Religion is something like, you can be born into it, but you can choose to really not bother with it. Like I meet many Caucasian people who say something like, "I was born a Christian, and I'm suppose to be a Christian according to my family but I am not a practicing Christian. I don't go to church and I don't read the bible." I think that is great!

I think Muslim people need to start saying, "I was born a Muslim, but I am not a practicing Muslim. I am not tied to Islamic rules, and I don't read the Quran"

I would love to see that more.

The fact that Bangladesh and foreign Muslim workers have to hide their identity and religion in fear of being associated with terrorism is saddening. I can't stand for that sort of persecution. It's so senseless.

It all goes back answers that I've given you, Greta. Islamophobia is a dangerous hot button issue right now. It's responsible for the widening rift between Muslims and the Western world. Extremists, like Isis, want to rip the fabric apart and create a holy war between the world and their version of Islam.

Some Muslims don't have the luxury of freedom, and can't admit to not being a Muslim. It would be nice if it were that easy, but the Middle East is a big mess.

Status: offline 		Many Muslims don't have the luxury of the freedom to choose their religion. I bet a huge percentage of those Muslims of the world had ZERO choice. I know Muslims in both my MODERATE Muslim neighbouring countries, Indonesia and Malaysia, have zero choices. There are death penalties for converting out of Islam.

So to help all these people imprisoned inside Islam, we MUST condemn Islam and force them all to get out of it by peer pressure. We must make it so unbearable to be Muslim and so unaccepted that they will finally be able to fight for their own freedom.

By supporting this inhumane religion that imprisons their own people. We are just supporting oppression.

I love that the Bangladeshi Muslims stop dressing and growing that beard. Because it's a start. And also, trust me, a real pious Muslim would never be able to do that. They did it, because they were force into a religion they didn't want to be in, and this situation give them an excuse to stop being forced into doing something they were brainwashed into doing since a kid. I think it's their first step to freeing themselves.
