But the fact that they were not apologies is not.

They say that like it's a bad thing.

Bad analogy actually, seeing as the British never really had any chance to win the Revolutionary War.
Well to be fair, that war was a complete fucking farce, where rich men agitated for political revolution so they could become even richer.

It's interesting that even back then, oligarchs were manipulating the masses for their own advantage.

That's always been the way things are, and likely always will be.

The US Congress is cancelled because . . . they just went home.

what would you have me do ?

Thank you. You've done enough.

I hear ya there. Some statesman said something to the effect that nobody's liberty is safe while congress is in session.

Actually there are countries where the chief executive, usually Prime Minister is authorized in their constitution to dismiss parliment. In some also the parliment can give the executive a vote of no confidence, but I am not really up on just what effects such an act has.

Also, in many of these place the chief executive is not elected directly by the people. So I guess this vote of no confidence and dismissal doesn't happen much as a result.

I am deathly afraid to let the current crop of assholes fuck with the form of the US government or Constitution. This is orders of magnitude worse than giving a crackhead keys to your Mazerati. We could lose it all very easily with these crooks. Best way is to keep them at odds with each other so they can never call for a Constitutional convention, and with the executive at odds with the legislature, that lessens the damage they can do on any given day.

Actually that is a bit of a lie, I am not deathly afraid of anything because if you pulled a gun on me I would say "Use it". I am more afraid of not being allowed to die when I am ready. I am not ready yet but I know I will be one day in the future.

I don't even know why I care. But I seem to for some reason. I would like this country to recover and get back to how it was many years ago sans the bigotry and other stupid shit. White picket fence, you make enough at work so the Wife can stay home and spend time with the kids. You can afford to pay cash for a new car. You can afford to take an unpaid vacation and drive cross country with a gun under the seat. You only have one credit card bill and the whole balance is like $400 because you are still paying off that newfangled color TV set.

Well we don't have to get that hokey but y'all know what I mean.

If I'd have known how good life really was and how it could change so drastically I would have fought tooth and nail to preserve what we had. Unfortunately an effective strategy eludes me.

We were damnear dirt fucking poor when I was a kid and life was better than when I was making about $29 an hour about ten years ago.

Look at the brain on Diz !

I know what you mean, I also think they let the US win because they knew they could never hold that big of a territory so far away. Transportation was a bitch, not like today when a bomb can be delivered in minutes. It may or may not be true but I think it is poissible they just gave up because of the cost. Plus the settlers knew the terrain better and were kicking their ass.

Like with the Nazis. Some people claim that they would have attacked us and tried to take over the US. Not in a million years. The logistics of taking over a country many times their size and resources, and holding it from across the water ? I know people think stupid things, like that Hitler was a nut, but he was not. Actually I used to think he was wrong in going after Russia but after learning a few more things I now realize that they were coming and if he didn't do something instead of German troops in Russia there would be Russian troops in Germany. Can't be having that now. If you want the basis for that assertion, look for what financed the Russian revolution. Not easy, if you can't find it let me know, I'll find it.

Another popular misconception is that the government is incompetent, but the fact is they want to appear that way. It is in their best interest. I'd hang the lot of them with a short rope.

A short rope means they don't get a broken neck and instead of being dead almost immediately they choke slowly. That is where the phrase "pulling my leg" came from. A short rope or hanging some skinny fuck, they might hang there for a long time before they actually die.

Nothing significant, then.

You asked. Whether or not those apologies are significant is a matter of opinion. Maybe Obama running around the world humiliating himself apologizing and bowing is really kewl. Ya need a link for the bowing thing ??

No, but it would be interesting to know why Obama bowing and scraping is more of an issue than Bush doing the same.

I'm not sure what you mean by scraping but I'd be interested where you came up with Bush bowing.

Termyn8or -> RE: What Would You Have Me do II (6/2/2016 5:40:43 AM)

Don't they all kiss the hand of the head of the house of Saud ?

WhoreMods -> RE: What Would You Have Me do II (6/2/2016 6:21:03 AM)

Lucylastic -> RE: What Would You Have Me do II (6/2/2016 6:23:42 AM)

oh theres several...but ahem, all the prez's recently have bowed.
but then muffys got a blind spot

WhoreMods -> RE: What Would You Have Me do II (6/2/2016 6:27:52 AM)

I do find it amusing that there was all of this pissing and moaning and whining about Obama bowing to the current Japanese President when there's photos of Nixon bowing to Hirohito. Presumably it's more acceptable if the Japanese politician you're bowing to used to be the Emperor who was responsible for the attack on Pearl Harbour.
