The huge difference here is that this is within the military when they are in other countries during war. The soldiers are mentally damaged and insane as it is by what they are going through. This is no excuse for rape of course. There is no excuse for rape. The point is that you are comparing apples to oranges. Hardly any soldier at war comes back sane. This isn't about citizens going about in a civilised society who just feel like raping for the fun of it. YOu are comparing a small subset of men in the military who are mentally disturbed from war to the general muslim population in a peaceful society.

I note that you failed to answer any of the questions put to you in my previous post. So I will put them to you again:

"A number of people who post here regularly and some not so regularly are rape survivors. Can you see why those people might find your attitude cynical and offensive? Can you see why they might interpret your response as saying that you are using rape as an issue to manipulate people's attitudes towards Islam? Can you see why they might think that you don't care about rape or rape victims and are only interested in them inasmuch as you can use them to promote your agenda?

Do you think those people would be justified to be infuriated by people cynically using their pain to promote a political agenda?"

Some answers to these questions would be appreciated.

If you want to attack Islam there are plenty of grounds on which it is open to legitimate criticism that does not involve trampling on the sensitivities of rape victims, or exploiting their pain to promote your agenda. You would be well advised to find and stick to such grounds because as things stand, it is only too easy to dismiss your current complaints as cynical offensive exploitation. IOW at best, your current approach is counter productive, at worst it is contemptible and repulsive.

So just because someone is a rape victim, this magically means they have authority over the subject and they can tell others what they can or cannot say about rape?

I don't understand how it should be offensive to point out that the worse situation of rape mostly gets ignored because the coward left are afraid of the bogeyman calling them racist.

Ignoring and denying the worse situation of rape is what I would define as fucking offensive.

This isn't just about islam, this is about ignoring the bad things from islam, like rape, because you are afraid of being called racist or xenophobe. It's a fucking pathetic matter that we are seeing today.

Honestly, Termy, I thought we were going to go back in time and talk about the homosexual situation as existed at the time.

I'm a bit over the gang-rape stuff, for the time being .

Boy, did I get 'approached' a bunch of times, in that regard (meaning, the homo/fag stuff).

But why don't I hate faggots?

Probably because I was and still am stupid, even after all these years and girlfriends later. To put it more simply, maybe because I have a woman who 'digs' me, and we figured out we want to get wrinkle-faced together.

But yeah, not the easiest thing at the time.

I wish that I could say it ruined me for life, so that I could be induced to scream as loudly as over half the people here.

But alas, it was not meant to be.

I wound up with a good life.

In any event, I wound up in a profession with an inordinate number of homosexual guys and gals.

Amazing how well things go when we grow up and work alongside, isn't it?

I was in the british merchant navy for many years and that was reckoned to be at least 30% gays and I never had any problems with them, even as a boy rating and the only case of rape was when a welsh cook raped a female visitor in Melbourne one time. I heard so many wacko things back in the day, that all those "approaches" never stood out to me much more than the next wacko thing my 'friends' did or my teachers said.

Of course, they did, just saying 'not by much above else.'

It was not a fun time, but the Republican boy chasers were not exactly the worst of it (the most bizarre? No question).

When I had the money, I could take the bus, and otherwise I walked for miles at a time.

I only got accosted when I got lazy!
