Who gets to decide what is harmful, undesirable and/or disruptive ? That sounds like giving a little ( or a lot) too much power to somebody who might conceivably misuse it. Or maybe that nice Mister Trump will decide, so that will all be just fine.

I don't disagree with you. But if one reads into the fineries of all the 'national security' laws, the description of what constitutes terrorist activities, and then reads news reports about police actions; the distinction and difference thing becomes a bit difficult there, to say the least.

you never heard of ' Saturday night specials' greta ? And the reason people aren't busy building their own in gun-free countries is possibly because they see no use for them and don't want them. They (the guns) are usually fairly unstable and dangerous to the user.

But I am sure in gun free countries, there will always be a group of people who desire to have guns, and as Thompson claim, the bigger worry is home made guns rather than illegal guns smuggled in. So I believe if there is gonna be huge influx of home made guns, we would have seen evidence of that in countries where there used to be guns, and what happens after gun ban. Including my own. I know if home made guns were so easy to assemble. Alot of teenage boys in my country would love to build one to be cool. Why did a 26 yr. old brat policeman slam on my 88 yr. old dad's door like he was the frontal assault of an army invasion, and scream belligerently in his face, just to give him a ticket that never got past any sane magistrate? That was an unquestionable instance of terrorism. Answer me why you guys have been turned into trained domestic terrorists, now.

Check with the bikies in this country and the UK....................every time one of their rat-holes is raided by the cops, there are not only manufactured firearms that have been smuggled into the country but a fair number of home-made Saturday night specials as well as pipe-bombs etc. I built a SNS when I was 15 and I have the technical know-how of a can of beans, so it goes to show that if even a fool like me can do it so can others with a modicum of grey matter

Edwird....................because they have been given a natty military-style uniform and a little authority and all sorts of weapons they can play with and the discretion ( if you can call it that) to decide who is right and who is wrong. We have the same problem here.

I am USELESS at that kind of thing. I looked at pictures of one used by the Mau-Mau in Kenya and figured out how it went together and improvised on that with a piece of bicycle frame and a whole lot of baling wire and cold solder

Agreed, but the materials and technology are universal. Hell, I made little cannons out of car parts when I was a teenager. They worked well. I set them off using a high E string from a guitar connected to an extension cord so I could be at least an extension cord away when it went off. Take a high E string from a guitar and stretch it across a 12-volt battery and it turns red hot and melts instantly. Just the right thing to use as cannon fuse.
