The obvious solutions in other cultures don't apply here any more than the obvious solutions here apply there. We need to stop trying to take the guns from the people that have them for good, and take an uncompromising line on the gangs. Remove the gangs from the equation, and you'll see crime rates here more like what yours are. Then maybe we won't need them so much.

The world wouldn't be at larger war, because, whenever it comes to religion, NOT everybody follows it by the book. All religions. Gawd knows most Buddhist aren't suppose to eat beef or meat at all, but most do in my country for example. Not every Muslim will follow the call to Jihad. But it doesn't mean, Islam isn't encouraging bad things.

And there is no basic difference about buying guns - EU regulations about weapons are basically the same in every country including but extending the Schengen treaty area.
