Musicmystery -> O'Reilly: No mortars, bazookas, tanks, grenades . . . even with gangsters or NWO. 2nd Amend reg. (6/17/2016 2:31:05 PM)

From Bill O'Reilly: "There is too much gun crime in the USA, and high-powered weaponry is too easy to get," he said. "That's the fact. So let's deal with it. We all have the right to bear arms, but we don't have the right to buy and maintain mortars. Even if you feel threatened by gangsters or a New World Order. No bazookas, no Sherman tanks, no hand grenades. That's because the Second Amendment clearly states the government has a right to regulate militias, made up of individuals," he continued. "They have that right in the name of public safety. Therefore, Congress should debate what kind of weapons should be available for public sale. And the states, the individual states, should decide what kind of carry laws are good for their own people."

He's taken a clearly written amendment with plenty of supporting documents discussing its intent, and interpreted is as word salad. This was the guy that claimed magnets were inscrutable, so you shouldn't expect better of him. Besides, I'd buy a heck of a lot better tank than a Sherman, and yes, in fact, you can.

Perhaps that's not a good thing that you can.

Some appeals court ruled very recently that the 2nd Amendment gives you the right to bear arms individually but does not grant you constitutional license for concealed carry. If so, tanks are already disqualified. I'm selling mine relatively cheaply.

Yeah, whatcha got? I'd like to park it in the backyard and annoy my neighbor.

The courts had already ruled that the states had to allow either open or consealed carry but that they did not have to allow both, nothing new here folks move on.

That just means you don't have to camouflage the tank.

I'd probably paint it pink with big Hello Kitty stickers on it anyway, and some 3 year old would think it was a toy and I'd take a 120 HEAP in the face.

ThatDizzyChick -> RE: O'Reilly: No mortars, bazookas, tanks, grenades . . . even with gangsters or NWO. 2nd Amend reg. (6/17/2016 6:42:44 PM)

If that is a legit O'Reilly quote then I agree with him, likely for the first time ever.

mrevibo -> RE: O'Reilly: No mortars, bazookas, tanks, grenades . . . even with gangsters or NWO. 2nd Amend reg. (6/17/2016 6:46:52 PM)

It probably is, and that would make you as wrong as he is.

mnottertail -> RE: O'Reilly: No mortars, bazookas, tanks, grenades . . . even with gangsters or NWO. 2nd Amend reg. (6/17/2016 6:50:45 PM)

Well, although O'Reilly is not anything more than a worm, what makes it wrong?

mrevibo -> RE: O'Reilly: No mortars, bazookas, tanks, grenades . . . even with gangsters or NWO. 2nd Amend reg. (6/17/2016 7:14:49 PM)

I'm not going to fisk it for you, I'm trying to enjoy my Friday night. I just stop in to be a wag.

Musicmystery -> RE: O'Reilly: No mortars, bazookas, tanks, grenades . . . even with gangsters or NWO. 2nd Amend reg. (6/17/2016 7:29:11 PM)

I.e., nothing wrong.

mrevibo -> RE: O'Reilly: No mortars, bazookas, tanks, grenades . . . even with gangsters or NWO. 2nd Amend reg. (6/17/2016 7:33:33 PM)

No, actually he packs quite a load of mis/disinformation into a tiny package there, and I'm not keen to unroll it all, I'd rather just point and laugh.

MrRodgers -> RE: O'Reilly: No mortars, bazookas, tanks, grenades . . . even with gangsters or NWO. 2nd Amend reg. (6/18/2016 7:44:54 AM)

Well whatever you do, don't take away one's 'right' to own an assault weapon. You know, those weapons designed to assault, i.e.,...kill as many people as one can in the shortest amount of time.

Is that conspicuous by its absence as I read the O'Reilly thing ?

Like clubs. You just described every weapon ever made.

That you want to play dense doesn't add to the acceptibility of your message.

neither the state or fed has any legitimate jurisdiction to trespass upon a RESERVED RIGHT. (regulate=trespass)

arms
ärmz/
noun
plural noun: arms

1. weapons and ammunition; armaments.
"they were subjugated by force of arms"
synonyms: weapons, weaponry, firearms, guns, ordnance, artillery, armaments, munitions, matériel
"the illegal export of arms"

ar·ma·ment
ˈärməmənt/
noun
plural noun: armaments

military weapons and equipment.

quote:

Founding Father oreilly:

the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed except, mortars, bazookas, tanks, hand grenades, or anything that can cause injury to self or others.

I guess that makes oreilly and supporters traitors to the constitution.

Are you nicking my words...I fairly purloined them from the dictionary.

The second amendment I would rewrite with my finest red crayon. Its been a while since i read it and who new you had 23-27 or something.
isn't it written like one of my sentences, lacking in correct structure and grammatrons...it could mean anything at all unless you are used to me.

Oh come they must be able to buy (live) Sherman tanks a fine death machine afeared in its era and bazookas and nuclear submarine for bath time and armour piercing bullet of a incredulous calibre for big game hunting slaughtering lions elephants etc in the savage lands of Africa

mrevibo -> RE: O'Reilly: No mortars, bazookas, tanks, grenades . . . even with gangsters or NWO. 2nd Amend reg. (6/18/2016 11:22:33 AM)

I think the last tank I saw come up for auction was a Mk6 Chieftain, fully functional, including 10 unspecified rounds for the 120mm main gun. Much superior to a Sherman, and that 120 with HEAT would be just perfect for a building hunting safari in darkest New York. For the nuclear submarine you'd have to bid against China. I don't think Bill Gates has deep enough pockets.
