Do you have a word over there for people who judge a politician's performance in office by a single polished speech? New York Times/CBS polling shows that race relations in the United States have deteriorated to their lowest level in decades and that they have been trending downward ever since his first inauguration. I'm not going to rate his administration on that single factor, but it does take the shine off his greatness as a leader.

I did not see or read his speech but I can at least add this to your thesis---he's been the most divisive and polarizing president in my adult lifetime.

I think the idiotic statement is bad enough as it is. however whats worse is his saying it at a memorial service.

He is also a spineless piece of political garbage, that even when his party had control of the house and senate, did not even come close to doing any fucking thing that he claimed to stand for.

And saying he is the best the US has had for a president in some time says more about the current quality of the politicians presently in office or seeking office than anything else.

To put it bluntly, Washington DC needs an enema.

Since you're replying to me, my post about deteriorating race relations was just to observe that calling Obama "GREAT!" seems a bit over the top. In my opinion, Obama is a mixed bag like any other human being. But people will value his achievements differently and interpret his failures differently as well, so there is no direction for this thread to go except (as we've already seen) downhill.
