I did not see or read his speech but I can at least add this to your thesis---he's been the most divisive and polarizing president in my adult lifetime.


I would give that accolade to the legislatures.

Status: offline 		Obama was neither great or terrible. He has done whatever he was told to do or otherwise about the best he could do given the cards he was dealt. Some could say and not inaccurately, that all presidents are bad, some are just...worse then others.

Presidents rarely have the power to be great. They do however have the opportunity to be very bad, the most useful of idiots for those behind the scene...the power behind the throne.

As has been the case, the bottom 60% of the country in power and income/wealth, muddle on and try to get along and fear any real change in the system.

Status: offline 		Perhaps, like quite a few others that don't know how to use the boards, it's time you learnt how to use it properly.

Find the post you want to reply to and hit the "Reply" button.
If you want to include what they typed, use the "Quote" button instead and it'll include their post in your reply - something that Thomson hasn't mastered yet.
That way, the name of the person you are replying to will show at the bottom of your post regardless of how many other posts appear in the thread when yours is submitted.

The white box at the bottom will just add your post to whoever was last in the thread at the time and I'm guessing it was designed to be a 'general' reply box to nobody in particular (ie, a "Fast Reply").

Only the delusional Right was talking about a “post-racial” society, mainly in order to self-servingly erase civil rights laws and such. We always knew that Obama would be like an itch to a festering sore and sadly would make the problem of racism worse before it would ever get better. You have to see the problem to see that it is a problem, and now we can see the problem like a cockroach that’s been exposed to the light, thanks to Obama. Sadly, the infestation of racism in this country is worse than maybe even he imagined, but at least it’s now in the open where we can work to exterminate it as best we can.

Another one who thinks white folks...especially those from the right ...are the only problem. Perhaps you should do like the lady inn Chicago...get yourself a sign that says "BLACK America, I'm sorry" and march through a black neighborhood with it..

Yeah, he had the audacity, the unmitigated gall to be a black man in the White House. How dare he? What fucking nerve! Didn't he know that would be divisive? Of course he did. All his fault.

Only war presidents are great, and then it has to be WINNING a full-throated war, not like the invasion of Panama or Granada. Not even bombing Serbia made Clinton great, although he had his fingers crossed.

Yes. What we need is to ditch the neocon/lib bullshit and just for once consider electing someone who actually would like to serve the country and it's citizens. That's not going to happen this time around though. The Republicans failed to even run a candidate who might do that and the Democrats threw every hurdle they could find in front of their populist.

I'm sure the top 10% are going to be very happy with this election no matter how it turns out.

Nope. That's Republican obstructionism.

The Republicans couldnt keep him from pulling out, and for the first two years he had a substantial Dem majority. He could have done it during those two years and the Republicans couldn't have done anything. He ran out on Iraq and they couldn't stop him.
Gitmo was set up by executive order it could have been closed the same way.
