ORIGINAL: WhoreMods Could you explain the attraction Putin has for the American right? I've never understood that one. It is not attraction, it is recognition. He has made Russia much better. People have jobs, money, and stuff in the stores to buy. Their standard of living has gone up quite a bit with him in the chair and shows no signs of reversing. Much better than the Soviet days and I guess they have pretty much forgiven him for working for them. Since his approval rating is not 100 % (though higher than most US Presidents) it is logical to assume that people are not afraid to answer in the negative when responding to polls. Perhaps he is trying to atone for past sins, who knows ? But you look at him from a non-Russian standpoint, if you were Russian you might see it differently. If you saw your country have good economic growth and have a better job, what would you think ? Meantime in the US pay is decreasing. Even without the devaluation of the currency, the job market is such that I make a little over half what I used to make. The debt only rises and they need quantitative easing so people don't lose their 401K n shit. Russia isn't doing that. Russia does not have 15 % of the people on food stamps. Russia does not have a third of their people on psychotropic drugs though it is speculated they might still be using vodka to some degree. And the state of California has more debt than Russia. They wanted to ally with Ukraine, partly because of the fertile land there. They made them an offer that far exceeded what the west offered and that is why the west intervened. Now, I doubt they want anything from Ukraine because Monsanto is now poisoning their land. This is something the old government would not allow. But Russia does have some land that could be made arable, it just takes work. So far they do not have to. In response to US sanctions, which were only against seven people and a total joke, they started boycotting certain food sources. Western pundits said they were shooting themselves in the foot but I did the math and the boycott adds up to about $100 per year per Russian. You think they eat on $100 per year ? Plus (I have known a few) when they come here they say the food has no flavor. Let's put it this way - Argentina is not importing our beef. In fact because of my work I have met many Eastern European immigrants and they all say the same thing. Now, one industry sprung up with grocery stores for them. I have been to some of those and the stuff really is superior to most of the bland shit we got. And one Russian put up a tent in the park and along came a ranger. How can a park close he asked. He said "Where is the freedom ?". Russians have guns and hunt, (once you qualify with a gun your license is good for life, it is not a revenue maker like here) and they do not need a fishing license to fish. Most of these people have at least considered gong back. But they bought houses, got kids who are raised here so far and it would just be too much. Even Mexicans are going back. this "growing illegal immigration problem" is a myth. The Mexicans are going back. There are not enough jobs and that is what many of them came here for. And now, Russians are not fond of homosexuals. It is not illegal there but it is illegal to promote it to children. So I guess they don't get Sesame Street anymore. But that is what the people want. They are not taking in alot of immigrants, which some countries are having a hard time with. God damn, I wish I knew Russian. Problem is, while I am considered smart and resourceful here, there I might be average or maybe under average. They got real schools, people fix their own shit. They are not in alot of personal debt. do you realize that people's personal debt in this country is more than the national debt ? We can't live on what we make, they can. If we could find someone like that in the US he would make a good President. But one of the problems is he is hamstringed by a liberal bunch of greedy assholes, or greedy republicans who only care to shovel money to their defense contractor friends. Consider the F-35. i got no love for any billionaire politician, but some are worse than others. What I see is that Putin has taken his brainpower, strategical abilities and whatever else and now applies them to the betterment of Russia. That is all. T^T
