Too funny, these days you need a laugh, when discussing politics.
What Really did it for me, was how serious he looked.

Vote Flump in, and you might as well have...

No, Putin would be much better if he would be loyal to this country, but he is Russian and is loyal to Russia and I doubt that can be changed. He can't run anyway.

Could you explain the attraction Putin has for the American right? I've never understood that one.

Surely, leaving out the fact that he brought 70,000 lbs of food and other supplies wasn't intentional, was it?

WhoreMods -> RE: Donald Trump to the rescue with play doh! (8/20/2016 11:40:27 AM)

Maybe he's desperately trying to find a tax write off in case he does have to release his returns.

Putin and the Right? He's smart, ruthless, amoral, a Winner. The same people liked Hitler and a dozen other dictators for the same reasons. He's a bloody minded sociopathic plutocrat. Hit's all the right buttons for what so many 'Conservatives' wish they were. The modern expansion of the 'Robber Barons' who built the huge fortunes of the 19th century, with many of the same methods, before unions and other NGOs ruined what was headed to another feudal Europe.
Putin is only a patriot in that it's the show he's in charge of. He'd be doing exactly the same song and dance for the great unwashed public anywhere he had some grasp on power. The country is in a mess, but like the US, concentration of wealth by the plutocrats is far surpassing what went on in the old Soviet days of the USSR. Loyalty isn't to Mother Russia, it's to the others who conspire with you to get everything that can be bought, bribed or stolen. The more politically connected of those building fortunes as the economy 'privatized' have managed to imprison, kill or drive out those not part of the 'inner circle' of Putin's friends and allies. When bare knuckle economic competition didn't work well enough, the powers of the State police and judiciary were bent to private ends and phony charges, or ones that should be brought to ALL who bought up the old govt. assets for pennies and built billion dollar empires, were used to oust the uncooperative or the direct competition to the ruling Moscow Mafia. All just perfect for the power fantasies of your average disempowered white right winger.
Doing the hard work of creating a new and sufficient infrastructure for a modern urban civilization to not just recognize, but build on the opportunities of the challenges and changes from emerging technology and environmental demands is WAY too hard. Getting rich and powerful stopping the movements to egalitarian society, full economic and political participation of all stake holders and maybe even coping with the threats that may bring down our whole civilization, are far more natural responses. And doing all that under the propaganda of patriotism seals the deal. Putin for POTUS!

Good for him!
That should be the headline.
All of the political/influential/and wealthy individuals should do the same.

Sadly, he's the only plutocrat running for election at the moment.

epiphiny: thanks. I'm sure the rightards don't see it quite that way, though. [;)]

Only I think he has missed the message China has seen loud and clear. Putin has lost the temporary advantage of Russia's energy resource incomes seeking temporary internal propaganda advantage. China is going to eclipse Russia badly as it's longer game of working everywhere to access and if possible control the resources necessary for economic and military hegemony. Chinese technology will soon surpass Russia's, they will always have more manpower, and may be able to shut Russia off from too many critical resources, or at least dominate most markets. Putin is playing short term games in E. Europe, China is building infrastructure and resource control on E. Africa and South America as well as absorbing more and more of SE Asia, all efforts Putin can't duplicate and doesn't seem interested in.

WhoreMods -> RE: Donald Trump to the rescue with play doh! (8/20/2016 12:09:08 PM)

China had already eclipsed Russia back when Yeltsin was still running it: it's just taken this long for it to become obvious even to those of us in the cheap seats...

It is not attraction, it is recognition. He has made Russia much better. People have jobs, money, and stuff in the stores to buy. Their standard of living has gone up quite a bit with him in the chair and shows no signs of reversing. Much better than the Soviet days and I guess they have pretty much forgiven him for working for them.

Since his approval rating is not 100 % (though higher than most US Presidents) it is logical to assume that people are not afraid to answer in the negative when responding to polls.

Perhaps he is trying to atone for past sins, who knows ? But you look at him from a non-Russian standpoint, if you were Russian you might see it differently. If you saw your country have good economic growth and have a better job, what would you think ?

Meantime in the US pay is decreasing. Even without the devaluation of the currency, the job market is such that I make a little over half what I used to make. The debt only rises and they need quantitative easing so people don't lose their 401K n shit. Russia isn't doing that. Russia does not have 15 % of the people on food stamps. Russia does not have a third of their people on psychotropic drugs though it is speculated they might still be using vodka to some degree. And the state of California has more debt than Russia.

They wanted to ally with Ukraine, partly because of the fertile land there. They made them an offer that far exceeded what the west offered and that is why the west intervened. Now, I doubt they want anything from Ukraine because Monsanto is now poisoning their land. This is something the old government would not allow. But Russia does have some land that could be made arable, it just takes work. So far they do not have to.

In response to US sanctions, which were only against seven people and a total joke, they started boycotting certain food sources. Western pundits said they were shooting themselves in the foot but I did the math and the boycott adds up to about $100 per year per Russian. You think they eat on $100 per year ? Plus (I have known a few) when they come here they say the food has no flavor. Let's put it this way - Argentina is not importing our beef. In fact because of my work I have met many Eastern European immigrants and they all say the same thing. Now, one industry sprung up with grocery stores for them. I have been to some of those and the stuff really is superior to most of the bland shit we got.

And one Russian put up a tent in the park and along came a ranger. How can a park close he asked. He said "Where is the freedom ?". Russians have guns and hunt, (once you qualify with a gun your license is good for life, it is not a revenue maker like here) and they do not need a fishing license to fish.

Most of these people have at least considered gong back. But they bought houses, got kids who are raised here so far and it would just be too much. Even Mexicans are going back. this "growing illegal immigration problem" is a myth. The Mexicans are going back. There are not enough jobs and that is what many of them came here for.

And now, Russians are not fond of homosexuals. It is not illegal there but it is illegal to promote it to children. So I guess they don't get Sesame Street anymore. But that is what the people want. They are not taking in alot of immigrants, which some countries are having a hard time with.

God damn, I wish I knew Russian. Problem is, while I am considered smart and resourceful here, there I might be average or maybe under average. They got real schools, people fix their own shit. They are not in alot of personal debt. do you realize that people's personal debt in this country is more than the national debt ?

We can't live on what we make, they can.

If we could find someone like that in the US he would make a good President. But one of the problems is he is hamstringed by a liberal bunch of greedy assholes, or greedy republicans who only care to shovel money to their defense contractor friends. Consider the F-35.

i got no love for any billionaire politician, but some are worse than others. What I see is that Putin has taken his brainpower, strategical abilities and whatever else and now applies them to the betterment of Russia.

That is all.

"Surely, leaving out the fact that he brought 70,000 lbs of food and other supplies wasn't intentional, was it? "

Nothing in your inks about that except maybe in the one with the video, I don't watch videos much.

Of course that still does not explain the play-doh. Maybe it was toys for the kids and some liberal focused on it, but still in a situation like that, fuck toys.

Though I don't really doubt it because he did not go down there to hand out play-doh, I can't seem to find anything on it solid on the net. Not surprising. Both parties are against him so the media will comply. They got money on the status quo and he will not perpetuate that if elected. Same with Sanders but they were effective in getting rid of him. Plus working people don't like socialism.

This is the third once in 500 years floods we've had lately. It is time to move them houses to higher ground. To keep on paying for this damage, whether by pocket or insurance, has to stop. Turn that land into strictly farmland and keep Monsanto the fuck away from it because it is going to be fertile as all hell. And of course filled with bugs but them people might eat them. Remember the old joke "them people down there eat things we call the Orkin Man for". They would do well on Fear Factor.

I am not going to say he did not donate 70,000 pounds of stuff. One account I read said that some of it was school supplies. Why that ? and coats, raincoats might make sense though.

But would the federal government do any better ? First of all, the fact that golf is more important than people displaced from their homes and possibly starving is quite telling about this "community leader" you elected. Plus, when they get down there it will be "gimme all your guns and go live in the stadium". They might give them MREs like the soldiers who die for their rich friends.

But no matter what, I still don't understand the play-doh.

You should maybe read up a bit more on recent Russian history, but that does answer my question and then some.

True. Perhaps that's why we're never going to see that tax data?
