COMBINATION of the illegal drug and the open display of the gun

Yeah, I have read that. A fucking blunt and a mysterious gun. WHY is the COMBINATION so urgent to make the cops abandon their arrest warrant for another individual? You seem to be unable to answer that simple question.

Copper overreaction. Tragic results. Stupid policing.

Do you see a gun anywhere in the vicinity of the body?

Plaincloths cops with vests clearly marked police.
Body cam started after the shooting, first thing a cop will do is move the gun away from the vicinity of the body.
He couldn't own a gun legally due to being involved in a shooting in San Antonio.
They Ided themselves at the outset.
But the cops have to be wrong so we must believe whatever is needed for that to be true.

But experts said it was not unreasonable for officers to investigate Mr. Scott’s possession of a firearm, even in a state that allows open carry, if they also believed he had marijuana.

“If you see a person with drugs in one hand and a firearm in the other, I think that gives you a basis for thinking that a violation of federal law has occurred, and there might also be state crimes,” said Jeffrey B. Welty, an associate professor of public law and government at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

What I note is that there is a dark object near one of the evidence markers that may be the gun.

Have you not read all the accounts of the incident, from the press and the police reports themselves?

The police were not in their "identified as police" vests until after they had sniffed around the victim's SUV and spotted that what got their interest. They were in an unmarked car.

There was not a single thing that led the victim of the shooting to conclude that there were any police around in the first place. Certainly nothing 'clearly marked' as police to begin with.

Understanding or even the most basic comprehension out of the most simple of declarative sentences isn't your forte, is it?

Unfortunately for you, the most basic grasp of a simple declarative sentence is a core requirement for ascertaining what is fact or what isn't.

Your remarkable record in this forum for repeatedly failing even that simple task ....

Oh lord.

However, when they approached him they were clearly Identified as police.
And they Identified themselves when they made contact with him.
The fact that he waved the gun and rolled the blunt not knowing the cops were near him is of zero importance.

Are you saying you can't pick out an unmarked car a block away?
I and most people I know can.
It sounds like you are saying that it is ok to commit crimes if there are no cops present.
I don't know if the cops knew that his gun was stolen or that he was involved in violent crimes before, but they do speak to his mind set.
He knew that if the cops got him he would go up on a Federal weapons charge.
I don't see that he would want to go with them.
You do know that even his wife's video has the cops telling him to drop the gun, why do you think that they did this.
I don't know about you but even if I am holding a book like you want to believe and the cops yell at me to drop the gun my hands would not only be instantly empty and over my head.

Three cops surrounding Scott, one banging on the passenger side window.

Keith Scott emerged from his van and took four slow steps backwards, his arms at his side. No gun is visible. He was shot four times. Each cop was behind a vehicle. No imminent threat. Scott was the only one exposed.

Just like shooting fish in a barrel. Inexcusable.

I can assure you that I would not be able to identify such a situation. Glad that you are still up with things that I left behind long ago, in any case.

I smoked weed many years ago, never had much use for it, though I never understood the bizarre jihad against it in any case. Thank you Reagan.

But you, as a gun-for-everybody advocate, surprise me as to such minor details anyway.

And what is your big deal about what is a crime or not anyway?

Weed is legal in ~26 states nowadays, and concealed carry was hardly legal anywhere in the US 20 years ago.

How much did that do for this guy in Florida?

Concealed carry was leagal in 37 states the last I checked and it has picked up a few so what is your point?
That doesn't mean that the smart thing to do isn't to drop whatever is in your hand.

BTW I have never said that everyone should have a gun.
Since this guy had been convicted of a shooting in TX he was, correctly barred from owning a firearm. Thus he was committing a Federal offence.

BTW do you know for a fact they didn't check up on him before closing with him.

Edwird -> RE: Arrogant, Entitled, Cry-Baby, and Coward (10/5/2016 5:21:39 PM)

The incident in Florida was less than 3 months ago.

He lied on his back and held his hands up. He never had anything in his hand.

He was shot.

The point is that you and a few others keep making such a whoopdeedo about the 'crime' of having weed and a gun in the same place, when more than half the states have legalized weed and by your account 37 states have gun laws that allow CC.

Just what is your point?

Which has nothing to do with this case unless you are one of those wackos who think that the cops are out to see how many people they can kill.

The cops screwed up in FL.
But as usual you got it all wrong.
The autistic man did not get shot.
The cops thought he was going to shoot his therapist and fired at him.
The cop who fired missed completly and hit his therapist. This only after negotiations had failed.

So then we see ...

After my post in response to yours, which stating that the guy in Charlotte should have just held his his hands up, you went back and edited your post to erase that particular item, after I pointed out that the guy in Florida still got shot with that approach.

Here it is;

And you can't follow the simple fact that I have a ccw permit doesn't allow me to pull the weapon without a good reason.
The fact that in half the country says weed is ok doesn't make it legal in the other half.
The cops were going to ignore the fact that he was smoking weed until he brandished the firearm which he could not legally own .
It was a felony just for him to have possession of a firearm.
I would think that you would be all for running in anyone violating a gun law.
Look at it this way, one less gun nut.
