Quite some deflection there Butch. The "another discussion" you mention is exactly the reason he protested in the first place.

Wrong again, I have a degree in history, and paid particular attention to our foundation documents. Like most non-Americans you think you know more about our govenment and history than we posiblely could.
Being retired military means I have earned the right to my view, you just claim the right to yours.

With your degree in history from Huntsville JuCo how is it that you are so unaware of the background and history behind the 2nd amendment?

Hahahaha. I think you're one of the very few, if not only, that has told me to calm down! If you knew me, you might understand why I found that so funny.

Well, first off: I wasn't telling you to calm down. Check who I quoted, right after that statement.

The second part of this is what I want to focus upon:

In fact, if you go back to my OP, you would find that I support Kaepernak's right to be an offensive shithead.

While you claim support, your bashing him (i.e. shithead, crybaby, etc...) doesn't really reflect said support.
I understand what you're stating. You are perfectly free to hate him while at the same time agreeing he has the right.
The point I was trying to make is that there is a risk to freedom. He's paying a price, which sends a message to the rest of the flock not to stray from the herd. That doesn't really look like freedom to me, not entirely.

As adults (hopefully as teen-agers, really), we learn that our actions have consequences. I could say it another way that is ultimately germane to this situation: "With great freedom comes great responsibility".

You're right. Some people might be dissuaded from similar protests because of potential back-lash. Some people might be dissuaded from joining the KKK because of what the more extreme members tend to do which could leave the "underlings" exposed as accomplices, after the fact.

Like it or not (and there's times when I don't), there are consequences to us when we exercise our rights. In my OP, I mentioned Limbaugh and Goldberg, two people, diametrically opposed who exercised their free speech and paid a price professionally as a result. Tough shit. They rolled the dice and enough Americans expressed their disdain for their opinions.

Kaepernak has every right to be an asshole and I and everyone else has every right to identify him as such and show the NFL and its sponsors how strongly we feel by our actions.

You almost seem to be saying that only some people should be entitled to exercise their rights. You seem to be saying Kaepernak has a right to free speech and I and all who think like me should leave him be.

Sorry, it only works that way in dictatorships.

"nly a phoquing moron would think it is legal for an employer to sanction an employee for their political beliefs."

Then the whole government and court system is because it is perfectly legal.

The first amendment, like all of them, only limits the powers of government. Otherwise you would have republicans working on Clinton's campaign (actually you might) and have sickening ultraliberals working for Trumps campaign.

People can get fired for any reason in most states, where have you been ?

God damn fucking idjit.

Bingo

Niether you nor Dizzy is an American and I am a retired service member, you two have no business decideing what I do or do not know about what the US stands for.

It is obvious that you are a product of the American public education system. What else is glaringly obvious, you do not understand what the U.S. stands for, neither now, nor two hundred years ago. Or much of any time line in between.

There is a famous quote that no one seems to know for sure who actually it should be attributed to. It applies to many of the current crop of 'patriots'.

"When fascism comes to American it will come wrapped in a flag, and waving a cross."

That quote so perfectly describes today's rabid patriots and basically, most of the people identifying as Republicans.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Arrogant, Entitled, Cry-Baby, and Coward (9/18/2016 7:39:04 AM)

I'm coming late to the discussion, but I may as well throw in my two cents:

1. He should be free to sit or kneel or perform whatever protest he wishes while they play the national anthem. I've never been a big fan of playing the god-damned national anthem before every sporting event anyway. I'm tired of "God Save America" in the seventh-inning stretch too. I think it's an empty gesture on his part (see 2), but in this blessed country we're free to make empty gestures.

2. Kneeling during a national anthem doesn't change any of the injustices that he claims to be protesting. "Raising awareness"? Really? People aren't already aware? I'd be a lot more impressed if he would actually DO something. Very few athletes are willing to put in the time to DO anything. Some do (and tend to avoid publicity). Most don't.

Typical of his ongoing fantasies however. He's still posting nutsuckerism all over except the Benghazi threadr. Townhall must have more important propaganda to felch these days.

There you go with that university of dumbass education of yours. Every one has the right to their opinion.
