Thank you for quoting that, it certainly is worth reposting.

It's nice to know that we have these freedoms to be able to peacefully protest, but from a societal standpoint aren't actually supposed to use those freedoms. That, I believe, is the biggest slap in the face of veterans.

Well, let's see ... I could make a case for having the right to join the klan. Should someone avail themselves of that right or is it offensive to enough people to warrant the attention of the arbiters of good and evil ©.

Those same self-appointed douche-canoes seem to be able to voice opinion on whether or not Americans should avail themselves of their 2nd Amendment rights.

So your berating of the argument of "we're allowed to, but we shouldn't always do it" rings a bit hypocritical to some ears.

Michael

I remember a few years ago the KKK putting fliers on cars in my area. Many of the ones that kept preaching freedom of speech during that moment are the ones who are up in arms over this "issue", of a man sitting down.

There are complete differences between the two and I'm not going to explain it - I shouldn't have to. You can compare them all you want.

There is no KKK. The KKK was originally targeting judges who took away their property, and later let Blacks off for raping, pillaging and plundering.

These clowns today have no resemblence to the KKK. They run around i funny costumes on the Jerry Springer show and they haven't lynched anyone in how many years ? They're a fucking joke.

But we do need some White people to get together and start solving some of this society's "problems". That means politicians, not a racial thing. Make them realize that bodyguards do not work against a million people.

Probably won't happen in my lifetime, but I am sure it will eventually. And that is the real reason they want to take the guns, and brainwash people to fear them. The words to a song for example, referring to guns :

Why don't we dump them, people,
To the bottom of the sea,
Fore some old fool comes around here,
Wanna shoot either you or me

So let me get this straight, if someone comes to shoot you, it is better not to have your own gun. That group is banned from all my computers and ever piece o stereo equipment I have.

Get this sanctity of life bullshit out of your heads people. There are alot of people who deserve to die all over the place.

T^T

Calm down, sugarbritches. Had you read my post, I was addressing the hypocrisy of thumbing one's nose at an argument that is a very valid one. We are allowed to do many things in this great country. It doesn't mean we always should.

In fact, if you go back to my OP, you would find that I support Kaepernak's right to be an offensive shithead. My real complaint is with the NFL. Not to repeat myself, but the 1st Amendment prevents sanctions by the government; not one's boss.

quote:

ORIGINAL: LaTigresse

The same laws that protect idiots SHOULD protect anyone that wants to protest......any damned thing they want to protest.

So, I was not admonishing the law or suggesting that the government should punish the little douche bag.

Then there's this:

I remember a few years ago the KKK putting fliers on cars in my area. Many of the ones that kept preaching freedom of speech during that moment are the ones who are up in arms over this "issue", of a man sitting down.

I don't have anything more than a personal issue with the washed-up scum sucker sitting down. Ya know, it's about feelings, when it comes to Kaeperdick. Having bled for that flag and given a son in service to it, I find his actions personally offensive. That doesn't mean I don't believe he's protected by our laws and it isn't his right to act like an ignorant asshole, if that is his choice.

My response to your post was to show that just because we can do a thing doesn't mean we always should do a thing.

Legally, I could call African Americans the "N word". Why would I do such a hurtful thing?

I can call Jews the "K word". Same question.

Kaeperdick can sit all he wants. He's gotten plenty of practice at doing so. He should also realize that his actions are hurtful, personally to people who have done nothing to him and haven't shot any black people in their entire lives.

He should have stuck with the socks.

There is nothing offensive bout joining the Klan, what is offensive is being the type of person that would want to join the Klan.

This is the US. You have a right to belong to any group of idiots you want. However, when you, and other members of your group of idiots incite violence or commit violence.......you cross the line. Even the most basic of idiots SHOULD get that.

The same laws that protect idiots SHOULD protect anyone that wants to protest......any damned thing they want to protest.

I don't have to like your group of idiots. I don't have to support your group of idiots. I don't have to like a protester. I don't have to like their method of protest. But until the laws of this country change, I will always support a person's legal right to do whatever dumbfuckery they feel they need to do. AS LONG AS they are complying with the laws of the country.

The unfortunate thing is that we have become a country of polarized idiots. We only want to allow the dumbfuckery that aligns with our own. THAT is the dumbfuckery I am going to fight against.

You have been missed LaT

I would have said the same thing I do about this.
The scum have that right.
Nobody should give them any credence.
It isn't about a man sitting down.
It is about him proclaiming the nation to be racist, and cops to be murders.
And at the same time showing disrespect for the nation and everything it stands for.
You can't seem to follow he has the right to do it but that doesn't make him right to do it.
Just like with your example the Klan had the right to do what they did, that didn't make them right.

Hahahaha. I think you're one of the very few, if not only, that has told me to calm down! If you knew me, you might understand why I found that so funny.

quote:

While you claim support, your bashing him (i.e. shithead, crybaby, etc...) doesn't really reflect said support.
I understand what you're stating. You are perfectly free to hate him while at the same time agreeing he has the right.
The point I was trying to make is that there is a risk to freedom. He's paying a price, which sends a message to the rest of the flock not to stray from the herd. That doesn't really look like freedom to me, not entirely.

quote:

And from my POV, he's trying to make others understand the hurt he feels. It was a statement to the country, not to the people who have defended and continue to defend the county.

Everything this country stands for? You mean the proclamation of freedom and equality when, to certain groups, it feels nonexistent? Or when the very name of the country includes "united" yet it feels anything but?

If I order an iPhone through Apple but they send me a Samsung instead, I'm going to call them out on it. I like the products Apple is selling, so I'm not going somewhere else. I just want what was promised to me.

No country has worked as hard to provide equality as this country.
No doubt you are unaware of this but the success of the Civil Rights movement was the participation and support of white people.
I suspect you have heard of the Civil War.
You have heard of affirmative action.
If you know who Al Sharpton is you know that there are black racists just like there are white racists.
The country isn't perfect.
But this action is putting all the blame on the very people who have given him every opportunity he has ever had.
He is following the lead of an organization whose favorite catch phrase is based on a lie.
He is ignoring all of the relevant stats.
He is ignoring the fact that the % of people shot by police who are black is less that the % of violent crime committed by blacks.
He is ignoring that the main reason that cops have gotten off in resent high profile cases wasn't that they covered anything up but because the idiot DAs grossly overcharged.
He is ignoring that cops don't get paid for killing people, they are put on administrative leave untill the investigation is complete, would you have them fired without due process.
He is mad because they don't fire the cop and lock him up no matter what the facts are.
Yes he is going after the core of society.
Yes he is insulting the vast majority of cops.
Yes he is insulting the military.
Yes he has the right to do this.
No that doesn't mean nobody has the right to be offended.
He isn't complaining because he ordered an Ipod and got a samsung.
He is complaining because when the samsung arrived he didn't like the color as well as he did when he saw it online.

As racist black as it is white.
Very rare, I have never denied that there are bad cops, but he wants us to believe that the vast majority of cops are murderers and that they can do so without fear of penalty, an outright lie.
