Evil machine music not played by musos who can rip off Hendrix parrot fashion!

Martin (Soft Cell)
Doctor Mabuse (Propaganda)
Two Tribes (Gay Scousers)
Don't Go (Yazoo)
Warm Leatherette (Grace Jones)
Fade To Grey (some hairdresser and a bunch of attention seekers)
Safety Dance (Men Without Hats)
Whip It (Devo)

(Noisy guitar bands will follow. Or maybe more synth abusers...)

Nope. 80's noise is crap.
With the exception of a tiny handful of innovative artists, the rest was just copycat noise.

As an old school rocker and ex Radio Caroline rodie, I think 99% of 80's noise should be consigned to the bin.

Let's just say that all the good music were 90's and below.

They were all better than what is available today!

I love the 60's and 80's and 90's though!

Not much into the 70's.

What is great about the 60's is, that was before music artist can be super stars like today, they made music truly from the heart.

60's always have very heartfelt lyrics.

the only reason (almost) any music (there were a few genuinely good ones) in the 80's gained any level of mass popularity was due to MTV. Had it not been for MTV I doubt Flock of Seagulls would have ever sold more than a handful of records. Rick Astley would have been a lounge lizard and Spandau Ballet....they should have actually tried ballet instead....I'm sure there are a hundred more that I really want to continue to forget.....

Hmmmm. So The Fall, the grindcore bands, acid house and the otehr cults only sold records because they were on MTV? Not sure I buy that one...

May I point out that NONE of you even considered the music of the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries!

Now, while I do enjoy all music with the exception of punk, rap and hip hop, I have a soft spot for Sgt. Mackenzie blood on the risers, Men of Harlech, Hanging tree of course this choice may be due to the fact I would love to have Jennifer Lawrence on a st. Andrews cross nekked and at my mercy

After they'd more or less stopped playing videos and moved over to concentrating on making stupid docusoaps and lowbrow comedies instead, then?

even my kids didnt like it....
Hubbies kids did (they are in their late 40s) and had tons of videos from when it was good.
musically I live in the past, i play a hell of a lot of the 70s n 80s stuff daily...

A lot of new stuff I have added over the recent years has been thanks to tv series, either their theme song or one played in the background.
I think that started with True Blood, House, Supernatural, it led to some interesting finds.
Oh and I would follow the hockey stream of a guy in pittsburgh who played some kickass metal and I got a lot of new stuff from listening to his stuff during intervals...
That reminds me, hockey is soon:) weeeeeeeeee

I had that on video for my hubby in the UK , but it wouldnt work on the vcr players over here, so I spent 65$(back in 89) to convert it to the right code.
its still one of his favourite videos of all time.

There's some great stuff on the soundtrack to Supernatural: everybody bangs on about that Kansas song, but there's loads more there.
(I could have done without the footage of Jensen Ackles singing I'm Too Sexy at a karaoke night, mind...)

No. Correction: HELL no. And I'm an 80's kid. The music was almost as terrible as the fashion.
