Long ago, in Detroit (Grosse Pointe) I had a lot of salt water aquariums in my house, 1,400 gallons worth in all. At the foot of my bed was a 250 gallon tank with a shark in it. The shark was about as long as the tank was tall. It could stand on it's tail and bump the lid with its nose... which it did at feeding time because it learned food came from above. . . . so it's 4 am and I wake up hearing tank lid banging. Something the shark did when hungry and searching for food. Groggy, I stagger downstairs (bedroom was on second floor) and grab a fish filet. I lift the tank lid and just as the filet slides out of my hands and into the water, I wake up enough to realize that a fish just taught me to fetch.

We all get caught in the end:) I can just imagine your face....lol my latest dog, we trained her early on, but she trained us forever after. To the point that at 10 at night, she would come to me and nudge me until I went upstairs to spend the evening with my hubby(bed at 2) and at 11 pm we would have to go outside with her, in the winter while she peed, and sit outside or stand in the porch while she peed, the past year, it was the same with coffee in the morning at 7.30 for 20 minutes or so. If one of us slept in or was on the computer, or busy doing something else, she would grumble at us to go out. since she passed we decided to keep up the ritual....silly I know:) but she trained us well.

In fact, I was it's finsub too now that I think about it. It ate my $250 sting ray for dinner and I paid for its upkeep and shelter. Our cat is also this. He's been on this "diet" for 6 months. Per the vet we are supposed to randomly feed him, to keep him active. We surely thought after a month or so he would be used to it and less vocal, and less grumbly, and less annoying. So wrong. It's meow this and mew that, waking us up, he's taken to rummaging through the garbage and him and the dog beg me for string cheese. It's ridiculous. Being on a diet with the cat however, has made me a big softy. Boyfriend (who's cat it is, I claim no ownership) says that we are co dependent and enable one another. We just share string cheese behind his back.

The vet wants him active is the thing. We have an activity feeder, he has two cat condos, boyfriend plays and plays with him. We have the only cat who has ever lost weight. It's like having a kitten around, only he's 8. The vet said him being so active is the goal. he does certainly run the house too. With the dog in cahoots, although the dog is also subordinate to the cat. I fear the day that they really develop some teamwork skills because nothing will be safe!

Signed huwman Dunno gauge I wouldn't feed cats dry food as I believe this bad for them and it disappoints me vets try to advertise some dry food diet...whose cat is diabetic is it dry food you fed them per chance. ms Kali predominately eats dry food and she loves the attention when you top up her nearly full bowls for her so she may choose a few biscuits to her visual liking ;) Kitchen there are 2 bowls of different dry food and one of wet food and one of water and the same in my bedroom. 6(8) bowls in all. I found having plenty of bowls out the cats tended to never be over weight. But ms kali is the heftiest and she mainly consumes biscuits and drinks the most.
