I've had a few girlfriends (and my now and forever partner) proclaim, and have heard from other ladies on the net, that "alot of guys become more attractive when they get older."

I've also read, to distraction, about women 'losing their beauty' at some point in too many fiction books (British authors being especially harsh in that regard).

I'm not a fan of looking at wonderful people being so objectified in that way, but at the same time I can't avoid some bit of objectification when I'm so taken aback at how smokin' hot Helen Mirren became from her 40s onward.

And Michelle Phillips, too.

Both of them in their 20s and early 30s made me say something like 'nice looking,' 'kinda cute,' etc.

But then I saw them some time later in one particular movie or another, and the response was 'Oh my goodness! Who is that?!!'

It was the same ladies, after turning 40! How the heck did they do that? My shock at the realization knew no bounds. Not they looked smokin' hot from being older, but just the sinking in that they were supposedly the same people as what attracted only nominal interest theretofore.

How is it that Helen Mirren has 50 million guys wanting to kiss her hand, even as being just now into 70s?

There are other examples I can't bring to mind at the moment, other than Ida Lupino, who was smokin' hot from start to finish (rest her beautiful soul).

If someone wants to recall other examples that would be great. If someone wants to sidetrack or 'derail' the thread to talk about the 'bad women' in movies, I'm OK with that too.

But Helen Mirren, my goodness ...

I have a cousin who I am very jealous of, she just keeps getting better and better looking as she gets older, so I know what you mean

Thanks for reading, and the observation.

I was negligent in not mentioning that I've come across this in real life too.

Oh dear, if your vision of 'smokin' hot' is Helen Mirren, then may I suggest a visit to your optometrist. . .??

What about Elizabeth Hurley, Jane Fonda, Jodie Foster, Salma Hayak, Madonna, Brooke Shields. .etc etc.

Helen Mirren ???. . No, thank you . . . I've seen better looking chooks hanging in butchers' shops !

Pretty impressive for any age, let alone 69.

I've heard that too, but I'm not sure I buy it. I've seen some ungracefully aging dudes--especially in the mirror!

All the women you mentioned are hot, but when a woman can be 63 years old and still pull off a bikini the way she did...props to her.

The eyes are just fine here, TVM. Yeah, I use glasses for reading now, but not for driving or movies.

But I'm also not a dullwit male, never cared about the "boobs!" thing, etc. And yes, I see the irony there regarding Helen Mirren, coz she does have that. But because of her post-40s eyes and post-40s heart-melting smile, I just never got that far.

All but two of whom you mentioned above are OK, but Modonna? Please. Not my cup of tea, safe to say, you're welcome to it. Rosanna Arquette absolutely stole the show in the movie Desperately Seeking Susan. Modonna looked like an extra shoved into a role by comparison. (Got any movie pics of Madonna in recent ten years? No?)

Jodi Foster is a good mention, though, even though barely into her 50s. I'm not as much a fan as others of some of her movies, but for me two of them absolutely steal the deal; Maverick, and Inside Man. In the latter, watching Denzel Washington and Jodi Foster taking turns at 'scene stealing' and Clive Owen himself horning in on that process was a hoot, and definitely a classic, TY Spike Lee.

What inspired the OP was in fact two (somewhat) recent movies; RED, and RED II. It was the most sweet and wonderfully endearing smile on Ms. Mirren's face that got to me, as she held a full-auto mini assault rifle on Bruce Willis upon his first entering her house, until she was sure he wasn't there to kill her. Given their profession, or that she could have been hired to kill him on another day, the apprehension was understandable. But yeah, that face, and the so sweet but perfect 'just-so-we-know-where-we-stand-' smile ... priceless.

I'm not sure what the term "chooks" means where you are from, Tangelo, or at least not particularly your invocation of it to the purpose, but thanks to you, I have no interest in finding out. If you want to be a friend, don't explain it to me. If you want to improve society, don't explain it to anybody.

I've noticed this. When I was in my teens and twenties, women 40 and up all looked really old. Now, some do but the majority look gorgeous.

I'm not certain if my standards changed, women actually do preserve themselves better, or my eyes have weakened.

Yes, Edwird, I saw both "Red" movies, I wouldn't have commented otherwise. Helen Mirren too old, and

definately looked out of place. She should stick with movies like "The Hundred-Foot Journey" as she is well-past

action. Screen action, anyway.

This is the beautiful woman in her 60's. Although she admits to using botox. But many others uses botox too and doesn't look so young.

And this is her in 1999. Just amazing.

Good genes I think.

If anything, Brian Cox (her manfriend in the movie) looked somewhat out of place to me.

I don't watch movies for purpose of conjecture as to which one or the other I'd want to fuck in the next two minutes if I could. Maybe that's the difference in perspective. BTW, Mary-Louise Parker was quite excellent too, especially when Bruce Willis asked her what she wanted to eat after he kidnapped her and she said through her duct-taped mouth, in a somewhat normal tone; "Pdddta (pizza). Rebecca Pidgeon was pretty good too. (Nice 'bad girl' role, always a fave here).

I'm a hetero male, so of course I'm going to look at the ladies a bit more. But again, I'm not looking as in consideration of whom I'll have in the bedroom when the movie is over. They have to do their job well to get above usual interest. I'm not "into" older ladies either. Whether in movies or r/l, an intriguing face is an intriguing face, in which case how many wrinkles are involved has not much to do with it. The basic template of good nature and sweet face surpasses all.

If Mirren is not to your taste, I understand. But don't tell someone else they need glasses when in fact they can see something you can't.
