Even Saturday Night Live, it seems, has joined the vast left-wing conspiracy. Saturday night, SNL opened with a mocking reenactment of the second presidential debate. The parody included the moderators taking shots, a kung fu style greeting between Trump and Hillary Clinton and an ode to town hall questioner -- and 15-minute celebrity -- Ken Bone. But the biggest laughs came from Alec Baldwin's portrayal of a stalking, lewd, deceptive Trump. The live SNL audience was cracking up, but apparently the real Trump wasn't. In a tweet, the Republican nominee said that Baldwin's portrayal "stinks." He also called on NBC to end its "boring and unfunny" show. And he said that SNL was trying to rig the election against him. * * * Trump has been increasingly targeting the media as the culprit of his poor polling numbers. He has repeated the refrain of a "rigged" election since the virtually tied race started to slip away from him following the first debate on September 26. Trump is correct inasmuch as the predominantly left-leaning media engages in a false narrative - as they did with Bernie Sanders. It's not so much conspiracy as group-think. The pseudo-journalists today are not concerned with journalistic integrity, ethics or independent confirmation. They're concerned with click-bait. Frankly, I think the privileges that have been traditionally extended to the fourth estate should be curtailed somewhat. The Freedom of the Press should remain a constitutional principle, but the responsibility to report accurately should be further enshrined in legislation.

As for placing constraints on the press to report the truth . . . the truth is often relevant, innit? And we basically have a free market in ideas. We should leave it be. Who is to judge the truth? FR After the first few seasons SNL went down the tubes, and should have been cancelled back then. When John Belushi died that was really the last nail in their coffin. His brother IIRC, Jim Belushi did a movie called The Palermo Connection, a serious piece, no comedy. I recommend it. I've tried to get the first few seasons of SNL and the internet has let me down, even P2P. I want Eddie Murphy's debut (almost) doing "Kill My Landlord". Of course it is politically incorrect so the chances of getting it are slim and none and slim left town. T^T
