I said it at the time, and nothing I've seen since has changed my mind. Sarah Palin was the most qualified and experienced of the four candidates in that election to be president.

Sarah Palin was horribly treated for being a woman. The left attack her for being an irresponsible mother for having a baby so late and a down syndrome baby. And the left attack her for being unable to be a good VP because she has too many kids to take care of.

Whereas to me, Sarah Palin is the best role model for a modern woman. Her husband is the house husband. She is the main breadwinner. And yet she is able to have like sooo many children, and achieve so many things in her career, including being a governor.

To me, she is amazing! I don't agree with her religious view. But as a woman. To me. This is a woman! A very capable and incredible one.

It's not even just a female thing with me. I mean, that should be irrelevant, all else being equal. The very idea that people would vote for Hillary as a female, and just because she was a female, is insulting. If you have a good candidate, put that candidate up. Don't say "ok, we haven't had a black, vote for Obama" or "we haven't had a woman, vote for Hillary" or "we haven't had a felon, vote for Bernie Madoff". Give me someone who would be a good president. Most of all, don't make me vote against the lousy excuse you've come up with for something we haven't had yet.

Greta75 -> RE: Well, I think America just told the Left to go fuck itself (11/9/2016 12:45:52 AM)

For me, as a female, I will have bias leaning towards female, IF all things are equal, I will choose the female over the male.

So between Palin and Clinton. To me, Palin has more achievements. And she doesn't even bother using the woman's card. But as a woman, she has achieved incredible things. Because to me, no matter what, for a woman to raise a big family and run for politics and have a career. I mean Clinton could only handle one kid. Infact she wanted zero kids.

I really admire any woman who can have an army of children and still balance career.

Because that is seriously not easy for a woman. It's 10 times easier for a man to have like 7 kids and manage career because he doesn't have to go through the 9 months and breast feeding part.

Really Sarah Palin had no qualifications... she is three fries short of a happy meal

Yea she came from nothing. No fancy university. Absolutely came from nothing.
That's what make it all very incredible.

You got to know by now that, to have all the "qualifications" only takes wealth and being able to afford it and born to the right family.

I reckon that must be why she was elected mayor of a town, governor of a whole state, and selected as the vice presidential candidate for one of a whole two major parties in a fairly prominent nation in the world, because of people that enjoy being shorted a few fries in their order. Try again.

Real0ne -> RE: Well, I think America just told the Left to go fuck itself (11/9/2016 12:55:03 AM)

palin has a moral compass, Hillarious cant even spell it

JVoV -> RE: Well, I think America just told the Left to go fuck itself (11/9/2016 1:52:06 AM)

I don't like Palin at all, but it would be hypocritical to dismiss her accomplishments. It's not like any of us have been elected governor, right?

mrevibo -> RE: Well, I think America just told the Left to go fuck itself (11/9/2016 2:02:40 AM)

The way I figure it, they wouldn't attack so much if they didn't feel threatened, and they wouldn't feel threatened if they didn't take her seriously.

The left wasn't ready to lose this one at all. They were prepared for a smashing victory.
They were deluding themselves. I said months ago that Clinton could not win it without Sanders as VP. That was the Democrat's last Hail Mary which could have gotten them across the line. (Mind you, if the Democrats hadn't been colluding with the Clinton campaign, Sanders probably would've been the nominee).

quote:

With some of the aggressive behavior they've already displayed towards the right during the campaign, I wouldn't be surprised if reports of violence, vandalism, and other acts of aggression start trickling in tomorrow.
It's interesting how violent the Left really is. For all their rhetoric, they're as bad, if not worse, than the right-wing nutcases from Stormfront.

It doesn't look as though the election was decided by standard left/right. Instead the line was more top/bottom. If, say, Sanders had lost, I think your title would be more accurate. Instead, it was a rejection of Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton-foreverism. I'm not happy that Trump won, but I'm glad HRC lost, and I think a lot of people are feeling that way right now.

Trump so far has earned fewer votes than Romney (the candidate who lost in 2012). He might pass Romney when the last bits are counted, but he might not. The key factor appears to be that HRC underperformed, not that Trump outperformed.

There's a certain logic to that, but I don't think people rejected Hillary for purely dynastic reasons. I think it's more a case that she demonstrated more concern for elites and minorities than she did for the working class. She hobnobbed with the wealthy, jumped on the progressive rights identity politics train (her 'evolving' position on gay marriage is a classic example) and called her political opponent's constituency a "basket of deplorables." What kind of politician is so inept they insult the people they're trying to win over?

I will grant you that working class people are sick to death of the wealth going to corporations and rich people, although electing a Republican seems like a very odd way to try and turn that around. Clinton's problem was that nobody believed she cared about them more than she cared about the wealthy.

Yeah, we're pretty much feeling that way. If she'd won, she would have been insufferable. Now the Left's been given a black eye and they might just learn the lesson that it's not about their rich friends and their identity politics, it's about the people.

Voter turnout appears to be roughly the same as the 2012 election. IE: Low. Clinton's inability to energise her base stands in stark contrast to Sander's ability to do exactly that. The fact that Trump's basically incompetent campaign was able to outdo the Clinton money-machine running the ground game pioneered by Obama's team demonstrates just how bad a candidate she was. People fucking hate her.

and called her political opponent's constituency a "basket of deplorables." What kind of politician is so inept they insult the people they're trying to win over?

My biggest issue with that was later in the quote, where she called them "irredeemable." There's no question that Trump and some of his supporters have poisoned the political dialogue in this country. For example, it's a true statement that HRC is a servant of international financial interests. But now, if I say that, people can reasonably complain, "International financial interests is anti-Semitic code for Jews." And I don't mean it that way, but some of Trump's loudest supporters do. So there's plenty of deplorable beliefs out there.

But you know what? Racism rises when people feel desperate and poor, and it recedes when people feel hopeful and employed at living wage jobs. Get people employed and proud of their communities again, and a lot of that will fall away.

About identity politics: you may already know this, but a slang term for the US recession of 2008 was "mancession," because so many more men lost jobs than women. I think a lot of what motivated the election turnout was, "Hey what about me?" Not hatred of gay marriage or trans rights or anti anything else, but a desire to assert, "I'm important too."

I've been telling them that for a long time, about time the rest of the country caught up. I think Johnson pulled more from Trump than Stein did from Clinton. They're both remaindered now. It's been... interesting, teaching my 21 y/o son how this stuff really works.

But Johnson is Libertarian. And there is no way Left would vote for Libertarian. That means smaller government or literally no government at all. Left wants big government all the time.

Johnson was suppose pull rep voters away from Trump, but seriously..., his gaffers are worst than Trump. That would seriously be an embarrassing world leader who is completely ignorant of international anything. Clearly not a well travelled person.

No, they wouldnt vote for him because he is a pure fiscal disaster, as is trump.

So at least one good thing's come out of tonight's festivities.

Mind you, there's going to be a lot of weeping and gnashing of teeth. The poor Stein and Johnson voters will cop a serve. And the Leftist media will be losing their collective minds.

I'm sure their consternation will prove a nice distraction for a while.

President Trump eh? Who woulda thunk it? Why, I can remember just someone the other day telling me how white, heterosexual men's days were over and the country was going to be run by the wimmins.

Guess who spoke tonight, eh? Go on, guess.

Would you agree the race was divided mostly on racial lines?

She had waaaayyy too much baggage.. and he capitalized on all of it.. No insult, threat or lie was too low for him to spout.. and Americans lapped it up.. they will get the govt they deserve.. hahaha

mnottertail -> RE: Well, I think America just told the Left to go fuck itself (11/9/2016 7:13:46 AM)

Voter turnout appears to be like the 2004 election actually. normalized a bit less, since there are more eligible voters now.

last figures:
122,697,291 votes out of 218,959,000 eligible voters.

respectmen -> RE: Well, I think America just told the Left to go fuck itself (11/9/2016 7:17:20 AM)

Trump's victory is probably the best thing that has happened to the western world in a very long time.

America has a leader that wont pander to the bloody muslims and feminists as much as any other who could be in that position.

Hopefully America will start running properly again without being manipulated by PC bullshit.

It's infuriating to me that so many people thunk having a clit (or melanin, or a certain ethnicity, or whatever) is a qualification for POTUS.

tamaka -> RE: Well, I think America just told the Left to go fuck itself (11/9/2016 8:00:04 AM)

I think when it comes down to it, Americans have never been a 'Politically Correct' group. They are more of a 'Tell it like it is and deal with reality' group. At least, historically, that's what America has been and that is the spirit that made our country strong, if not popular. And this still runs through the veins of the hard working people here... and Trump knew this from the beginning and capitalized on it from day one... much to the left's shagrin. So here we are... President- elect Trump.
