Some countries are more democratic than others, but Trump's presidency has convinced me that the US is actually a lot more democratic than I ever gave it credit for. This is the first election I've seen that didn't seem like establishment candidate 1 versus establishment candidate 2, so I always suspected it was rigged until now.

But there is no way that Trump was selected by the establishment... so the people must have a voice.

It's actually really terrible and I think we should be more like China.

China has used Trump as a very very convincing argument as to why democracy doesn't work.

Well we are not a democracy. We are a Representative Republic. Part of the reason for the electoral college is that 'Group think' of certain states that are heavily populated don't get to determine the direction of the country. Power is distributed amongst the states.
