i had read about it, but when it happened to me for the first time it was unexpected and i got really distressed and panicky.
But after a talk with Him, i was able to work through it and overcome those feelings, and just relax and trust His knowledge of my limits where it is concerned. It also helped me greatly that He got me to hold my breath and He counted how long i could do it comfortably for, though at times that limit is pushed.....especially if ive been really naughty!

I don't want to do anything to my subs that might wind up with me having to call the paramedics. There are so many other wonderful things to explore. If I did it, it would be cupping my hand over their mouth & nose, not putting pressure on the airway in the throat.

I've done it and do it, but it's extremely dangerous. There is no perfectly safe way to do breath play. Ask a doctor. It helps to have some idea of the relative risks and avoid the really stupid things (like hanging someone with a noose), but people who think they can do it risk-free are kidding themselves.

We've done it, his hands around my throat...more and more gentle pressure... it was sooo HOT!! having my very life in my Master's hands. But that being said, he's decided it's too dangerous for his property, there's too much out of his control, and as said above, he doesn't want to have to interrupt what he's doing to call the paramedics.

Greetings,

1) Yes, i've done it.
2) For me - it's extremely erotic, adrenaline producing and just plain exciting.
3) i did my research both from the proponet side and the antagonist side, from the D/s perspective, from the medical perspective, etc. (Interestingly enough the key thing you'll find in all of the above is the inherent dangers of this practice).

In my opinion you should know the following things before partaking in this play.

~Know the comfort/expertise level of both the Top and bottom.
~Know how adept at "reading" the individual bottom in question the Top is when involved in heavy play. (The Top must be able to detach Themselves from Their playspace if/should/when it's required and do so in the appropriate measure. Furthermore, i strongly believe that each individual bottom has different "tells" and that it's vitally important for the Top to be familiar with these especially when involved in an activity with so much inherent danger)
~Begin slowly and introduce more complex techniques as you become comfortable.
~For the Top - when in question...STOP!

As other's have mentioned and as you will see as you continue your reading and research, this is a potentially life threatening method of play. That being said, i do partake in said activity and enjoy doing so incredibly. i've had a few scary moments that have taken me literally hours to recuperate from but it's now quite intertwined into my repertoire of fetishes and i wouldn't consider removing it from such unless there was some extreme circumstance that forced me to do so.

I have, but not for long. I enjoy it but then the sheer idea of it becomes overwhelming and it's harder to ignore that your life is litteraly in someone elses hands. I trust my life in Masters hands but still. I read a lot on it and really I suggest anyone intersted in it please please do as much as you can about understanding the risks and what can happen.

Of course, breath restriction can be a safer alternative than breath control. There are lots of devices, which restrict airflow, such as tight leather masks with small breathing inlets, gas masks, some gags, canvas sacks, etc.

I myself prefer gas masks with long intake tubes or rebreather bags that open to fresh air. I can give my bottom the feeling that his breath could be shutoff at anytime, without having to put him in real danger. Also, there's that wonderful rubber smell. You can also subject your bottom to any smells that you like as an added bonus.

Even breath restriction is very dangerous, I would recommend anyone think twice before attempting it.

Here's an idea for those who might want to "play" with this area. It's called "Cum or Breathe". I heard about this game from a couple in my local community.

you, the sub/slave, hold your breath as you masturbate. When you MUST breathe, you MUST stop masturbating...and so it continues until you release. This allows YOU, not your Master to control the breathing at first. Later, the two of you can begin to incorporate your Master into the scene. This Breath play thread in the ssbb newsgroup has an interesting debate about whether or not the risks may be exaggerated. Jay Wiseman (posting as "Old Rope") points to sources for his conclusions that the dangers aren't worth the risks; then Philip the Foole discounts that by talking about judo choke holds knocking out countless participants without one fatality. Also, someone (Jenner I think) posted a long description of the vagus nerve that looks like it came out of a medical textbook.

Anyway, there are 107 posts there to pick through but there is some interesting stuff in there.

she is going to add rather than edit..to say that there are ofcourse inherent dangers in breath control...however Master is an expert in hand to hand combat...gotta love that military training, and choke holds are applied in all means of crowd control, swat use, many forms of martial art etc to great avail with little physical reprecussion other than bruising at the hold site, and if You do it right there shouldn't even be any bruising. she would say that breath play is up there with edge play it is something a Dom should be personally trained in or mentored in, not just try and figure out on His/Her own, due ofcourse to the inherent physical risks.
Personally, for her there is absolutely nothign like having an orgasm at the height of breath play...atleast how Master does it...
