Bad news for those who wants and welcomes more illegals in the US. But good news for those who don't want illegals in the US!

Trump is delivering already without building the wall yet!

Los Angeles (AFP) - When would-be immigrants Bernardino and Samuel got word in Mexico of the election of Donald Trump, they immediately gave up their plans to cross illegally into the United States.

The rhetoric that originally fueled the billionaire populist's rise to power was built around his ambitious promises to deport the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the US and to build a "big, beautiful, powerful wall" along the border with Mexico.

Now, with the New York Republican's stunning victory Tuesday, fear and uncertainty are surging among undocumented immigrants. Will their workplaces be raided? Will there be mass expulsions? Greater obstacles to gaining legal status? What will happen?

No one knows.

Bernardino, a 34-year-old Honduran who declined to give his last name, was looking for a "coyote" to help him slip into the United States near the border city of Tijuana when he abandoned his plan. So did 18-year-old Samuel, a Salvadoran.

Both men said they feared that if they are caught, their family members living north of the border might suffer.

"Imagine if they stop me, after a while my family living over there would have problems. The truth I never imagined is that the blond man might win," Samuel said at Padre Chava's breakfast hall, a soup kitchen in downtown Tijuana that provides food and clothing for more than 1,000 immigrants every day.

"Who harvests the crops in the field? Who washes the dishes in the restaurants? Have you seen any American -- some blond American -- doing it? What would this place be without us?" asks a beefy 47-year-old man.

Nobody seems to actually listen what Trump actually said. He said he was gonna deport all 11 mil illegals, build a big wall, and then, get them to go through proper applications and go through the wall legally!

I mean, what a stupid thing to say? The whole point is to still allow them to come in to fill the jobs that nobody wants to do, but have it done LEGALLY! In our country, we simply have a work permit for people who are willing to do these jobs nobody wants to do! They get to enter legally for filling these jobs! Simple solution! We have 1 million legal construction workers for example on legal work permits. And considering our population is only 5 million. 1 million is alot! We make sure they are ALL documented!

These guys are dramatizing everything! Trump just wants everybody properly documented and legal. Not to deprive these people from coming in to do these jobs.

The problem with greater enforcement Greta is that it doesn't actually discourage people from coming here. But it does encourage them to stay illegally, instead of at some point going back.

In the 50s and before America had a huge influx of illegal seasonal workers, most of which would go home after the season. It wasn't until they started enforcing immigration polices more that these workers stopped going home. Somebody desperate for work will cross the border one way, but they won't risk the same risks to go back.

Immigration enforcement is exactly what's caused the illegal migration problem in the US.

They won't all be legally permitted into the US on work visas. The process to get such a visa is complicated and expensive. Even seasonal work visas can end up costing more than what a worker would be paid over the course of a season. The workers can't afford them, and the companies won't sponsor them because it's cheaper to hire illegals.

As law and order as he is, he is going to have to have her indicted for working without a green card.

That makes her a criminal, and he is going to deport her.

http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/11/03/5-facts-about-illegal-immigration-in-the-u-s/

1 There were 11.1 million unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. in 2014, a total unchanged from 2009 and accounting for 3.5% of the nation’s population. The number of unauthorized immigrants peaked in 2007 at 12.2 million, when this group was 4% of the U.S. population.

2 The U.S. civilian workforce included 8 million unauthorized immigrants in 2014, accounting for 5% of those who were working or were unemployed and looking for work, according to new Pew Research Center estimates. The number was unchanged from 2009 and down slightly from 8.2 million in 2007. The share of unauthorized immigrants in the civilian labor force was down slightly from 2009 (5.2%) and 2007 (5.4%). Compared with their 5% share of the civilian workforce overall, unauthorized immigrants are overrepresented in farming occupations (26%) and construction occupations (15%). In all industries and occupations, though, they are outnumbered by U.S.-born workers.

3 Mexicans made up 52% of all unauthorized immigrants in 2014, though their numbers had been declining in recent years. There were 5.8 million Mexican unauthorized immigrants living in the U.S. that year, down from 6.4 million in 2009, according to the latest Pew Research Center estimates. Meanwhile, the number of unauthorized immigrants from nations other than Mexico grew by 325,000 since 2009, to an estimated 5.3 million in 2014. Populations went up most for unauthorized immigrants from Asia and Central America, but the number also ticked up for those from sub-Saharan Africa. Increases in the number of unauthorized immigrants from other countries mostly offset the decline in the number from Mexico.

4 Six states accounted for 59% of unauthorized immigrants in 2014: California, Texas, Florida, New York, New Jersey and Illinois. But some state populations had changed since 2009, despite the stable trend at the national level. From 2009 to 2014, the unauthorized immigrant population decreased in seven states: Alabama, California, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Nevada and South Carolina. In all of them, the decline was due to a decrease in unauthorized immigrants from Mexico. In six states, the unauthorized immigrant population rose over the same time period: Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington. In all of these but Louisiana, the increases were due to growth in unauthorized immigrant populations from nations other than Mexico. In Louisiana, it was an increase in Mexican unauthorized immigrants that drove the overall increase in the number of unauthorized immigrants.

5 A rising share of unauthorized immigrants have lived in the U.S. for at least a decade. About two-thirds (66%) of adults in 2014 had been in the U.S. at least that long, compared with 41% in 2005. A declining share of unauthorized immigrants have lived in the U.S. for less than five years – 14% of adults in 2014, compared with 31% in 2005. In 2014, unauthorized immigrant adults had lived in the U.S. for a median of 13.6 years, meaning that half had been in the country at least that long. Only 7% of Mexican unauthorized immigrants had been in the U.S. for less than five years in 2014, compared with 22% of those from all other countries.

While I think that illegal immigration may be the biggest threat to the nation I don't think this proves anything.

This article is very unclear how recent this is. It shows a picture from 2014, and they said this been happening since 2014. But all we need is more scary tougher laws on illegals. Many will be detered eventually.

You mean they could just come in as tourist and over stay?

Gosh you know in my country, NOW, we are evolving to taking iris scan. They say thumb print doesn't work for people who does labouring work, and their thumb get scratches and stuffs.

So now, we are on a mission to iris scan every single citizen and foreigner coming in.

It's just about keeping track aout who comes in and out, and going after illegal over stayers. I don't know. I love all these things. I know Americans will freak out if the American government ever implemented iris scan. But our future airports will be iris scan instead of thumb prints now. I think it's kinda cool.
