Our test is 3 things.. do you know what a double double is? Do you know the starting line up for the final game in the 72 Canada Russia series, and finally where do you get the best poutine

ugh.. well, those might be the test for an Eastern Canadian, but not for a Western one.. which I am.. no idea about a double double.. is that something do do with coffee? or doughnuts? I have never had one regardless.. did that hockey line up have Gretzky in it? best poutine? in western Canada? ya gotta be kidding.. I have never had the stuff & no desire to.. I think ya gotta go to Montreal for that.. if I go to Montreal it would be just for the clothes and architecture..

Advice for any U.S. citizens headed for Canada to live; you at least need to know what Curling is even if you have never watched a match. Having gone to watch a co worker at a match and gotten roped into a pick up game after the official matches (get the Yank on the ice as a joke was the intent I think) I found it actually a lot of fun.

Mental speed bumps for yanks headed north:
-Milk comes in plastic bags.
-Everyone recycles.
-You go to Canadian tire for sales on winter gear and kitchen equipment too.
-Timmy's is like Dunkin' Donuts with taste and class. Trust me, if you like coffee and pastry, you will like Tim Horton's.
-CanOSH standards and ANSI standards may not equate. Be prepared to get Canadian safety shoes and hard hat.
The internet seems to have faster throughput in Canada unless you are going across the U.S. border. I joke about it being NSA screening. <grin>
-Mail order from the U.S. is often more expensive than ordering the equivalent item from Britain or Hong Kong.
-Canada is serious about getting import tariffs from mail order items whereas the U.S. often ignores tariff fees from individual mail orders. Don't be surprised if you have to go to the post office and pay "tariff due" fee before receiving a package.
-Poultry is dry process chilled in Canada instead of the wet tank chillers in the U.S. This means that a chicken in the grocery doesn't look moist and doesn't required the diaper in the package for the excess water seeping out.

I came back to the U.S. earlier this year. I went up on a six month project and ended up staying for a year and a half. I may even go back for another project in the spring.

As the saddle horn covers the selector switch in the picture you don't know if it's automatic or not. It does appear to be suppressed.

I was born in Rochester, NY and I grew up on the Southern shore of Lake Ontario. If I take a raft across Lake Ontario, I might find my way to Toronto or whichever way the wind blows. Yea, I know some Canadian history. I think I might be able to pass the test, well, maybe

I should think being able to build a raft that gets you across lake Onterio and actually doing it would make you welcome in Canada. They'd most likely give you political asylum if you failed the test.

not really.. the 1,500 drunk Americans that floated across in August on rafts cost the Canadian govt/taxpayers about $60k to transport them all back..
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2016/08/24/drunk-americans-illegally-float-into-canada/

and Canada does not give asylum easily, as nutbar Actor Randy Quaid found out..

Who'd have thought something I was kidding about really happened. Okay, so now I know. But, really, now that you think of it, it's a perfectly predictable thing for drunk American males to do.

A double double is a Tim Hortons thing 2 sugar 2 cream... Gretzky didn't join the NHL until 1980... and I am pretty sure Montreal is the food Capitol of Canada.. hence it is the best place for poutine

ah, I see.. but I am not a coffee drinker (I like Earl Grey tea ).. I still kick myself for not going to a live hockey game in Edmonton before that twit traded Gretzky.. even if/when I go to Montreal i still wont eat the poutine! and ya can't make me!!!
