No but personally i have a lot of friends from S. Korea and i don't think they should be dealing with this guy. I'd like to see that situation resolved.

So if you didn't know anybody in S.Korea, everything would be fine ? The americans could pull out of their bases there and let S.Korea get on with it and you would have no problems with it ? Maybe THEY (S.Korea) could make friends with N.Korea ? If not, maybe another country would fall to an adversary with more military muscle ? Kinda like South Vietnam ?

And yes tamaka, the kids MIGHT need that military discipline and experience. Does the military need them though ? Some would be good. Some would be bad. Some would be time-servers. Some would be totally useless. Surely your military deserves better than that ?

I am sure there can be some 'Motivation to Succeed' employed. As a teacher and a manager, even i can do that.

So ? He killed his uncle ? So what ? That has absolutely NOTHING to do with the U.S. or anybody outside North Korea. Or is this another time when America has to stick it's nose into somebody else's internal business ? According to the news that came out of Korea, his uncle was a traitor to the regime. Have you heard different ? Why do you disbelieve HIS news and not news coming from other countries ( like the U.S.) ?Personally I wouldn't give a shit if he topped his whole family. I would cheerfully have topped my older brother and laughed all the way to the pub. How does America make friends with him ? How does any country make friends with another country ? Approach them with open hands and an offer of friendship with no strings attached. Raise any embargoes presently imposed on the country might be a GREAT way to start.

I may be in the minority among leftists here, but I can't see much harm in mandatory military service, and in fact think it would be extremely beneficial. Actually making it a requirement for citizenship seems incredibly fascist, but I've lived abroad in countries where it happens-- Denmark has conscription (not enforced) and their society is probably the best I've ever experienced. South Korea has it and it can help to build connections that will serve you in your future career. It also helps to build a sense of comradery, and if they could throw a free college education in alongside it I think it would be a huge benefit to society as a whole. I mean, there's a difference between military training and actually going to a foreign land to kill people so that rich industrialists can make even more money. Trump's presidency should be a huge wake-up call to the left-- fascism CAN happen here and military training could definitely come in handy should his presidency prove to be the worst case scenario or should it open the door to even more extreme candidates in the future. Adults should NOT be making the release of the next superhero movie, toy collections or other regressions the focus of their lives-- that's exactly the kind of thing that the predators want. People need to be strong if they're going to stand up to people like Trump and steer society in the right direction... and while there are many kinds of strength, if all you know is running and hiding or distracting yourself with easy comforts, you're never going to be able to do what's right.

AHA !!! There we have it HeavyBlinker and yes, I agree with you. Have a draft or call-up if you will but draftees are not to serve on foreign soil (unless they volunteer to do so). That is to be left to the volunteers/regulars. Like Japan does. Send an unwilling draftee into a battle zone and all you end up with is a butchers bill. It would instill discipline, a sense of self-worth, trust and being trusted and what we call 'mateship' in Australia or 'comaraderie' in France.

Maybe if Trump was to make friends with the other little fat bad-haircut guy, they would spend so much time laughing at each others haircuts, they would never have the time or energy to make war or do anything really dumb.
