I notice you avoided the question.

It was answered in the post immediately above your idiotic question.

Idiotic because it makes you avoid emotion and stick to the facts.

The whole point was about why people from Africa were brought here.

Which necessarily involves the fact that they were dragged over here.

After reading the post, a person with IQ somewhere below 70 might have asked the question you did.

But the point your are trying to make is not different than saying that someone who got whacked in his vehicle by some fool running a light and was damaged severely enough to only being able to walk normally ten years later but got $50,000 in damages should be grateful to the guy who clobbered him for the money.

Why else would we have brought slaves here? You buy a slave to use it as a slave. It's not like they were powerful people that we hired as consultants to help figure out the best way to start a new country.

Edwird -> RE: Alt-Right? More like Alt-White. (11/24/2016 9:02:24 PM)

So all that is why blacks should be grateful to whites? Because they weren't brought in as consultants?

I could make a decent joke out of that, ending with the punch line "thank goodness for small favors" but it would go completely over your head.

Their descendants are pretty fortunate that we needed some slaves.

What else could slaves be brought here for?

I will agree with some of Trumps supporters to a small degree that I do get tired of every white male being viewed as backwards hick. I have made it clear many times in this forum that I hate the white power movement. Its a disgrace. I am not talking about that. I am talking about the fact of reality that seems to be bias against white people. Racism comes in many forms. Yes, there are black racists. I should know. I lived in the ghetto for many years. I got called honkey, cracker, white bread, etc. I know firsthand racism is a disgusting thing. Hate needs to stop on all sides. I am proud to be white, just like someone should be proud to be black, or anything. I will not be shamed as a white male. I stand for equality for all. All Lives Matter, not just this group or that group. I voted for Obama twice and I voted for Hillary recently. Can't lock me up as a Trump supporter. The double standard of racism on all sides, does need to stop.

Nobody can say that Republicans don't offer diversity. They helped elect the first orange man to the white house

Right.

So then, no, they didn't "need" slaves. They needed workers.

They -wanted- slaves instead of free workers.

u and I see things much the same way.

The problem is the things u mentioned in post #188 & above, are not new things, in fact they have been perpetually present since People Of Color (POC) were brought here hundreds of years ago.. Since the 60's its just depended on where u lived that determined the amount u had to deal with it.

The fact is Wwe POC ARE tired of viewing white males as anything more than fellow human beings. BUTT its constantly shoved in Oour faces by way too many white males by their behavior, that they are everyone else's adversary, that even when the blatant bullshit is against the law, the subtle shit still happens because they won't ever give it up. Nowadays its called "privilege" (watch what flack that word drags up around here!!...LOL!)

Just wait until the next pure lynching happens, or another man gets dragged behind a pick-up truck until his bloody carcass is decapitated by a culvert.

Ask: What kind of person did it? Who was it done to? what was the motivation? When u get those answers u will have a good chunk of the reason why race relations are what they are.

Booker T. Washington understood the need for blacks to embrace the idea of gratitude.

If one reads the lecture referenced he speaks of progress not gratitude.
Jesus you are phoquing stupid.

he speaks of gratitude as a foundational aspect of making progress.

grateful: feeling or showing that one values a kindness or benefit received.

quote:

Blacks Should Be Thankful There Was An America To Come To

thankful: feeling or expressing gratitude

quote:

, blacks must realize what they have and what the hand of “Providence” did for them. I know that it is more popular to wallow in apathy and self-victimization, but that is the very antithesis of what “Providence” has provided…

the opposite of gratitude

quote:

It is not the white man who has prevented blacks from seizing upon the opportunity available to all. It is the debilitating animus, blame, self-segregation, and self-victimization they wallow in.

recognizing, by embracing, a kindness or benefit received

quote:

and he understood that the way same was accomplished was by learning a trade and embracing the “God of Providence” for the blessings “He” had bestowed upon them.

remember? for what purpose---perhaps thankfulness?

quote:

As I closed my speech at Gettysburg on July 4th, I called those in attendance to remembrance that the very grass their feet were standing upon had been grown in the blood-soaked soil of freedom. Something race-mongers would have us forget.
