ORIGINAL: BamaD What do you mean by "fight back"? You have already stated that you can discriminate against anyone who vote for Trump. Your support of this restaurant shows that. Does it mean that you will always vote against him and oppose anything he wants because it must be evil? Does it mean you will apply for Canadian citizenship and stay there? Or does it mean that you see nothing wrong with somone shooting him (and maybe even anyone who supports him. What is it with you and not being able to understand my positions on these issues? Are they too complex? 1. I don't support the restaurant's tactics, I understand them. It's not the same thing. I've already said twice that I don't think fighting discrimination with discrimination ever works, and on top of that I don't think every Trump supporter is a fascist. But I also don't think it's morally wrong to want to resist Trump or to fight back in any way one can. 2. I think Trump is a fascist, but the thing about having a parliamentary democracy is that you can have a fascist leader without developing into a fascist society. I don't think Trump or his terrifying cabinet is smart enough to actually wrest enough power away from congress to impose a fascist society upon America, but he is definitely the closest America has ever come to the possibility. 3. It's not that everything he wants is evil-- it's more that fascism should always be resisted to prevent it from gaining ground and becoming normalized. Are there benefits to living in a fascist society? Of course there are. But just because Nazi Germany had really good health care and a zero percent unemployment rate, it doesn't mean I would ever support Hitler. Obviously I have no idea what Trump intends to do, but the fact is that he has sold himself to the public as a fascist-- even if they don't realize that that's the best way to describe him. It's so odd how all of the phony RWNJ outrage over Obama somehow makes me question whether or not I have the right to be outraged over Trump... but practically everything I read about him, even on FOX, suggests that this isn't just partisan sour grapes... he really is a new type of leader who has tapped into a really scary aspect of the collective consciousness, and I can't see it going anywhere good. Of course killing people isn't something that anyone should ever support, but if Trump were assassinated, then depending on the circumstances, I would probably be more relieved than anything. Of course if the assassin were Muslim, I would probably not be so relieved... because I'm afraid that it is actually possible for someone even worse than Trump to emerge, and if enough anger is stirred up, it could easily happen. The reaction to his assassination could be absolutely catastrophic, considering all of the paranoia going around on the right... but if it happened in such a way where Pence could calm everyone down and everyone came together, then yeah, I don't think I would feel too bad about it. Why would a Russian woman care if Trump is a fascist or not? Honey, you have Putin to worry about. Now she is Russian? That would explain a lot.
