I love pets (animals and sub-girls, lol) however, some people are just weird.

I’ve saw an old episode of Friends. Ross was giving his monkey away to a zoo. Anyway his friends were saying goodbyes with Ross to the monkey. Well, they were too way emotional. Joey came along and said: I don’t know what to say, it is just a monkey. Ross told Joey to say what he is feeling, and Joey said: I’m hungry. lol

When you talk to a child you speak with its logic, not adults'. Also when you talk with animals you aren’t speaking with fellow human.

Master96,

I love my animals. I think they're wonderful and they're my babies. (And I got up at 3am last night to check on Nimue and to make sure her vaccinations hadn't bothered her)

That said, I -hate- it when people anthropomorphize their animals. I hate it when animals are given human motivations by the humans who love them. Yes, animals have distinct peronsalitis, and they -will- act in reaction to things, but they dont' have human motivations. For example, animals -don't- mate for love (well, cats and dogs don't). They mate out of biological urge, and it isn't always pleasant for the female. I -hate- individuals who talk about getting their critters "girlfriedsn" or "boyfriends" so they can get it on. Girlfriends/boyfriends as companionship is great, but the human motivator of sex simply doesn't exist as we understand it.

Similarly, I hate it when people act as though a dog being difficult to potty train is becuase he's 'an asshole" or "out to get" the pup's owner. ~sigh~

By all means, love and cherish your critters, but don't expect them to be human.

Hey, in my case, the potty training issue really is to just piss all of you off.

Or to piss on all of you.  Either one.

Yours,

While I am realistic in that I know the mental capacities of my 4 legged babies is limited I do love them and treat them with respect for the living feeling creatures they are. While I am pretty strict in training and their manners they are spoiled rotten. Interestingly enough I prefer their company over that of many human beings. Animals are very honest, you know where you stand with them.

Master96- I have seen that episode of Friends, and you are correct- they ARE silly about it, but that's just them.  (what about the episode where they use chopsticks glued together to poke the naked guy?)

perverseangelic-  I agree that it is dumb to anthropomorphize animals BUT I disagree when it comes to animals not reacting with human emotions.
Animals get jealous, they get anxious, they get sad and depressed.  They are also vengeful!
I talk to animals.  They understand my tone of voice, body language; I sometimes talk their language.

i guess i am a bit silly about my cat.. too.  When i make my bed in the morning i also make his "nest"  he likes the sound of plastic bags when he lies on them.  So .. on top of my bedspread, i put a plastic bag (or two sometimes) and then smooth a flannel sheet over the bag for him.  He and i share my king size bed.  Sometimes at night his "nest" will slip off the bed, and he awakens me by putting his face right in mine.  I wake up and retrieve his "nest" for him.  His name is fluffy bunny.. he is the cutest, fluffiest cat. My kids and i call him "the rabbit".  I will ask one of the kids to let the rabbit in, they open the door and the cat walks in.. We get strange looks from their friends.
The stranges day was Easter Sunday, this year.  The rabbit did not come home all night, i was out on my lawn, on Easter Sunday,, saying "Here bunny , here bunny rabbit"  even I felt like a fool.

Animal charities receive more contributions than charities for children. There is just so much sentimentality towards animals, it is beyond my understanding. I believe in looking after the environment and keeping the wildlife diverse but from there on in it is brutal nature at work as far as I'm concerned.

Hmm Imagine people going round slaughtering stray dogs and cats, there would be more commotion than children getting killed in the middle east. Sad but true.

I love my furkids, yep I consider them part of my family. They are happy to see me when I come home, they are usually always happy, they don't judge me or have attitude problems. They don't have the hangup's that humans do and quite frankly, I think they are smarter than alot of humans.

I've heard so often animals are dumb and that they are souless creatures, I do not agree with that at all. Your common dog can figure out a way to survive in the woods, but you put your average human out there and see how long it lasts. If the Goddess made it she cares for it no matter what species it is.

Animals dont care what gender , race  or religion you are, they love you all the same. They don't start wars, they don't try to develop weapons to destroy the planet and they don't feel a need to control every living thing on the planet. They don't care how fat/skinny/short/tall you are, or if you have pearly white teeth or dentures. As long as you show them affection and take care of them they happy campers.

As for kids well sorry but if I'm given a choice of which is cuter a puppy or a baby, I'll go with the puppy.  They are alot quieter too!~

Master96,

I've always said that baby talk is for pets.

I'm completely inconsistent with my treatment of animals.  I'd probably be willing to kill another human to save the life of a loved pet.  Yet I eat meat and use leather with no tinge of conscience whatsoever.

Hell my mom use to refer to our shaggy sheep dog as my brother...."Go feed your brother... let your brother out... " animals are family in our homes. Mom had a shitzu die about 2months ago... lived with her for 18 year... only one of her "kids" that didn't run away from home or cause near as much problems. She's got a cat that has been there 14 years this past June. They talk to each other... she'll chew ass when not happy either...LOL

They may not walk on two legs... but they're family... and they're loved... fed... medically taken care of... mom has  had  cremated in past 2 1/2 years.... we have their ashes ....waiting to be buried when she dies (mom). They're all loved and will always be.

I also agree that if someone can't take care of an animal properly.. they should get into just as much trouble as if that animal was a child. (As in non feeding, kicking, non medical care). If you don't have time or money... got no business with an animal. Specially domestics... cats.. dogs....

I think that if pets really behaved like people, there would be a whole lot less pets.
