BoscoX -> Who is ready for some global warming? (1/2/2017 1:19:23 PM)

They promised the end of snow by now. It's "settled science" they said. WTF!!! I WANT MY GLOBAL WARMING!!!

Musicmystery -> RE: Who is ready for some global warming? (1/2/2017 3:30:01 PM)

Who promised you that? The voices again?

Meanwhile, take a look at the arctic.

Weather is not climate.

DUH!

Do you never tire of constantly getting shit kicked in your face due to your habit of arguing out of pure ignorance

You must really like the taste of your own ass, having it handed to you time after time.

NPR and the NYT published the fake news referenced below:

Remember When The NY Times Predicted The ‘End Of Snow’?

It’s been nearly two years since The New York Times published an article claiming the “end of snow” was nigh because of man-made global warming.

“Europe has lost half of its Alpine glacial ice since the 1850s, and if climate change is not reined in, two-thirds of European ski resorts will be likely to close by 2100,” Peter Fox, the editor of Powder magazine, wrote in an op-ed in February 2014.

“The same could happen in the United States, where in the Northeast, more than half of the 103 ski resorts may no longer be viable in 30 years because of warmer winters,” Fox wrote.

An Oregon State University hydroclimatologist echoed the same sentiment to NPR recently, telling the news outlet to enjoy snow now “because there’s a whole lot less of it,” especially in the Western U.S., due to warming...

It is exactly what is happening in the Alps right now.
Today 2nd of Jan first winter snowfall below about 1000m above sea level - for a few hours.
(During the 20th century this happened on average in mid October).

This might become the 3rd snowless winter in a row if there is no severe change of prevalent air currents in late January (usually at about 25th - on average).

We already have the mildest winter (warmest Nov/Dec) since weather records began in mid 18th century. Also the 3rd in a row.

Since 2000 we had 15 (of 16) winters with temperatures above 20th c. average.

DominantWrestler -> RE: Who is ready for some global warming? (1/2/2017 4:19:13 PM)

I no longer have to scrape my car during winter. Idk where you live, but it is blatant here. Even republicans here admit there is climate change; they just argue if its bad or not

How sweet.

In south Florida we used to get overnight freeze warnings and damn cold mornings . . . . not in the last two decades. Big change.

MrRodgers -> RE: Who is ready for some global warming? (1/2/2017 6:06:45 PM)

I know, I know, it's tough out here. I mean god put us and the earth here...to make a profit and those fucking lefty scientists just can't get it through their thick skulls that this is all very natural:

Since 1990 (25 year trend)

over 200 record highs in Phx., Ariz. 0 (zero) record lows.

over 70 record high low-temp. at night...no record lows. (soon never below 90 F 24 hr.s/day...from June to Oct.)

Millions yes millions of acres of brand new dead pines in the northern states and Canada due to a beetle that no longer dies off for winter.

I mean, we'll just have to plug along on Billion$ in profit every year for the 21 century not just burning but only partially burning a fairly well estimated 150 BILLION tons or more (we're finding more all of the time) of oil plus all of the rest of the earth's fossil fuels leaving billions of tons more C02 and at least 30 billion tons of unburnt hydrocarbons in the atmosphere. I wonder if the sun will still even get through ? But I do understand it will all smell just like those old city buses...kinda kool hey ?

Don't worry for us though, as you very generous taxpayers will still give us profiteers at least $5 Trillion per year in worldwide subsidies to satisfy our greed.

And don't worry when those white face masks that don't do much now will be replaced with full gas masks because you advised your children and their children to by and invest in them.

No, don't worry at all because...you'll evolve. Well ok, they will or maybe not. They'll probably die at 65, then 55 then...just die. Maybe they'll croak as the're spitting on our graves, thinking to themselves 'you had to make all of that fucking money, fucking up this planet...you greedy short-sighted bastards.'

tamaka -> RE: Who is ready for some global warming? (1/2/2017 6:17:44 PM)

I think that taking all the oil out of the earth and burning it has made the earth weigh less (less mass) so our gravity has changed slightly and moved us slightly closer to the sun.

No shit. I just found out over Christmas that some more was found on some family land out in the panhandle of of Texas. Whole town has slowly been dying for decades and all of a sudden oil. Going to change things for those people so much that they aren't going to give a second thought to environmental considerations, I can promise you that.

Well, Bozo, clearly, from what you quoted, the headline is overblown and doesn't represent the content of the article.

Unfortunately, click bait is the scourge of what used to be news media everywhere. Including the Times.

Again, you're going to have to read more than the headlines to get the content. It's how it goes.

Edwird -> RE: Who is ready for some global warming? (1/2/2017 6:52:49 PM)

Incidental gravitational force would be lessened by one or the other body in question losing mass, not increased. The sun loses more mass in a second than the earth does in a million years.
But in any case the reason why the earth and sun and earth and moon and all the planets are moving farther apart is due to transfer of angular momentum. It's a tiny amount every thousand years, but there it is.

tamaka -> RE: Who is ready for some global warming? (1/2/2017 7:08:27 PM)

Well perhaps the change in the earth's mass distribution around it's axis is effecting everything. I have suspected the time is going faster than it used to and scientists have said that the speed which the earth is revolving around the sun is speeding up... or something like that.

montanasubboy -> RE: Who is ready for some global warming? (1/2/2017 7:27:20 PM)

No matter the cause the problem is real. I do really live in Montana and I am here to tell you all "Houston we have a problem". One problem I have with all of this is parts of the world that are not evening working on the problem at all (China). At the end of the day there comes a time when we all will have to do what ever we can to help the problem no matter why we have a problem.

bounty44 -> RE: Who is ready for some global warming? (1/2/2017 7:55:01 PM)

Well, actually not that either.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth%27s_rotation

No, the difference is for you and me, sweetheart.

I can remember some time way back when ten years was one of several definitions of "forever," whereas I just now looked at the calendar and looked at ten years ago and said 'What the heck?! Where did that go?'

Some would attribute this phenomenon of perception to our getting older and slowing down, so everything seems to be speeding up in relation.

But that's only spoken by those jealous folks who are irritated by the fact that some of us just keep getting smarter and better looking every year.
