It is an undeniable privilege that mainstream media makes excuses for racism from blacks while being very hard on any white who happens to show racism.

But the motive does relate to the crime and may determine the severity of punishment... In that way hate does and should be part of the judgement. For instance murder for profit may be judged differently than a murder of passion. I wife for instance that plans and murders an abusive husband would be judged differently than a wife than murders her husband to recover insurance money. Butch

I am well aware of how things work, today. My objection is with the very idea of "hate crimes" laws. I think it's a step or two away from government, controlling our thoughts (or trying to). I understand that it could be difficult to determine when the motive would qualify as a hate crime and I can see where that could be abused. But I see nothing wrong with a more severe punishment when part of the crime was racism. I just wanted to make that point... but I do think the possibility of abuse of such a law out ways its usefulness... so i am not really disagreeing with you on the law.. only the reason we end up agreeing. Butch Does it really matter what the motive was, is somebody worse for killing someone because of their race than because they want the $10 that may be in their pocket? One hates because of skin color or religion, the other because someone has something they want.
