The Hillary campaign started the birther movement

Well actually they didnt felchgobbler, but Trump can hardly question the illegitimacy of Obamas Presidency as he did, and then whine and shit his pants like a nazi felchgobbler when his is questioned.

Dont get me wrong now, nutsuckers whine and shit their pants constantly, look at you, felchgobbler, and one would expect no more from him, and they would not be disappointed, of course he is going to do that, just not over questions of his illegitimacy.

im sure we can remember this long after 2008

And as for his comments regarding Lewis' district, Georgia’s Fifth Congressional District includes parts of wealthy areas like Buckhead; the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Emory University, and the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Granting all that, Atlanta's poverty rate is 45% higher than the national rate, its unemployment rate is 30% higher than the national rate, and it makes the "Top 20" for violent crime, coming in at #14 in the nation.

Our ruling

Trump said Georgia’s 5th congressional district is "in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested)."

The district isn’t in as terrible economic shape as Trump suggests. While it has higher unemployment and poverty rates than the national average, it still has a thriving economic hub in Atlanta and higher educational attainment.

Atlanta does have a much higher crime rate than the national average, but like most major cities, that has been in decline.

We rate Trump’s claim Mostly False.

"Trump vs. Lewis: The Civil Rights Crisis in Atlanta"

quote:

...Lewis's district includes the affluent areas of Buckhead—even a Ritz-Carlton, Phipps Plaza, and Lenox Square (the two most affluent shopping centers in Atlanta). But it also includes East Point, College Park, Forest Park, and other similar cities with significant populations...

The median household income is $37,000 a year in East Point, Georgia.

In Forest Park, it's $31,000 per year according to City-Data.com. That's down almost $3,000 since the year 2000.

City-Data says the average household income in College Park, Georgia is $26,000 per year. It was nearly $31,000 in the year 2000...

East Point has a violent crime rate that is one of the highest in the nation and was named “the most violent suburb in the nation” by Curbed magazine in 2014. Forest Park isn't much better, earning a 2 out of 100 for safety (100 being the safest) by neighborhoodscout.com...

Lewis's district encompasses an area where nearly 50 percent of the tenants in rental homes receive an eviction notice each year (according to a recent report by the Atlanta Federal Reserve).

There are 750,000 residents in Congressman Lewis's district. Almost seventy-percent of them are minorities. Over fifty percent of this district is in an area where the median income is substantially lower than national average and the crime rate is astronomically higher...

Uh huh, that Solyndra "stimulus" kickback cash does a lot more good in Obama's wallet, than it ever would if the poor black families in Lewis' district were to have seen some of it...

I'll be curious how you "prove" the cash is in Obama's wallet.

This should be entertaining.

Still curious how you came by that assertion.

You have riots, snowflakes on freeways, cheesy accordion gifs and anonymous tweets... We have real power, and total control of the legislative agenda.

Fair trade I guess

Trump Sets Off Backlash With Attack on Civil Rights Icon
Outrage over President-elect Donald J. Trump’s criticism of Representative John Lewis is driven by what many blacks see as his lack of understanding of their reverence for the civil rights movement.
Several members of Congress said they would not attend the inauguration, and would meet with activists to discuss strategies to oppose Mr. Trump’s administration.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/15/us/politics/trumps-race-john-lewis.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=first-column-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&mtrref=www.nytimes.com&gwh=CBEF27972CEF304E309305650BF0E19B&gwt=pay

The spin in strong in this one. Lewis attacked Trump, saying that he was not a "legitimate president". Trump's response:
"Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results," Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter on Saturday.
Ya think? But possibly the best quote in the piece is this one:
Mr. Neal added that while other presidents, like Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, may have imposed policies that hurt black communities, they were more sensitive to issues of race.
They imposed policies that hurt black communities, but they were "sensitive to race." Does that even make sense?
K.

See, folks here assume instead of reading. At least you read!
But none of that is in question. Readily acknowledged.
The point is -- the game is on now. "Who started it" isn't going to pacify anyone. It's president-elect against civil rights icon, whomever is right or wrong.
And that will have repercussions -- right or wrong.

One more fight in Washington that I wish wasn't taking place, but it's not like no one has ever questioned a president's legitimacy before. Trump is well known for questioning Obama's legitimacy for years with the birther movement.
And from David Axelrod, a former senior adviser to President Obama:
https://twitter.com/davidaxelrod/status/820278229491744768
I disagree with what @repjohnlewis said, but I honor the man he is. Honesty; integrity; courage-these are qualities you just can't buy.

Yet, that District is the 14th worst for crime in the Nation.

And, it has a higher rate of poverty than the National average.

Sure, it may not be "falling apart" as Trump claims, but that doesn't mean everything he said was wrong.

Isn't Representative Lewis the one that claimed Tea Party members called him the N-word during a march that was a complete fabrication?

And, just because he was a Civil Rights Leader back in the day doesn't give him a pass today.
