My thoughts? Well, his CV was horrific which I have commented on enough. There was a small part of me that wanted to say “Well, he’s in so give ~~the man~~ pig a bit of a chance”

Has anyone opinion of piggery changed for the better or worse and why?

Heh, does that doomsday clock thing come out today? What’s it at anyway 3 seconds before midnight or something?

On balance, I'd go for 'mentally deranged'. On the one hand: strong signs that he's a cuckoo clock in one way or another. On the other hand, it's difficult and - I hear - unprofessional to make psychological analyses at a distance. I'd not yet use the word 'fascist' to describe him ... but he could go that way. Or a modernised, Americanised, version of that way.

Not really coherent, and pretty flexible in a lot of ways, I think. Lots of emotionalism, subjectivism and vitalism .... lots of irrationalism, in short. Your proper fascist can't be inflexible about authority and who's the boss; nor about who and what the enemy is. But 'reason' ... No return to dismantling the idea of democracy itself - that wouldn't wash any more - so we're talking of 'neo fascist', I suppose. But at the moment - just proto-neofascist. We'll see. The thing is, I've come to suspect that a lot of what turns proto-fascists with power into the full-blooded thing is sheer bloody stupidity, laziness and vanity. Trump has those qualities in abundance.

Nah, I still don't believe it'll come to whole-hog-neofascism. But, still, it'll be fascinating to watch what *does* happen.
