Of course it didn't start with gas chambers. It started with exactly the same kind of hysterical antipathy toward an entire religion that Donald Trump has shamelessly exploited and encouraged in order to gain power. Germans gradually "normalized" everything that was happening. The rest is history. Trump and Hitler are birds of a feather. Virtually everything about his rise to power echoes what happened way back then. Sadly, too many Americans are fuzzy on history, fed as they have been a steady diet of insipid (Un)reality TV.

Taken from the book Hitler’s Ethic: The Nazi Pursuit of Evolutionary Progress by professor Richard Weikart, the text explains that "In 1943, a Nazi directive to the German press declared, 'Jews are criminal by disposition. The Jews are not a nation like other nations but bearers of hereditary criminality.'"

All of the philosophical influences on Mein Kampf were German rather than Austrian. The Nazi party was founded by Anton Drexler (from Munich, rather than Austria), and Hegel and Neitszche were both Germans as well. (On a less snide note, I think the Foreign Legion was doing that back then in France.)
