However you slice it this was a move against a particular religion. Christians from the seven banned nations are exempted, yanno.

I think Irving's been adopted by the white supremacists and other holocaust deniers who've fitted him up as a martyr who's been unjustly destroyed by the Jewish conspiracy. According to some sources he's not very happy about this, but it can't really do his career any more damage than it took from losing that court case against Deborah Lipstadt did at this point. One aside to that which is worth remembering: RealG0ne's insistance that the bombing of Dresden had a similar death toll to the holocaust is something that was specifically disproven by every witness the defence called in that case, and he was forced to admit in court that he had inflated the figures for Dresden and minimised the figures for the holocaust. It seems strange that RealG0ne can't find any arguments against the holocaust taking place than one that was legally debunked.

There are several books about it, as it was quite a big deal. Lying About Hitler by Richard Evans is another good one. (I think Evans and Guttenplan are somewhat at odds, which makes how much they agree on enlightening.) There's also a film about it called Denial, which I haven't seen.
