What bullshit. What do you think that Sanders revolt was all about? What do you think that pathetic voter turnout was all about?

You were so busy chanting your "Leftists! Hilary!" mantra, you'd have noticed that many Democrats were not buying the DNC's "inevitability" "it's my turn" nonsense. Why? Lots of reasons, but one of the main ones was we didn't like being told how to vote.

Open your damn eyes.

i read the ny times piece, and if every thing there is true, some of its terribly unfortunate and disheartening.

yet at the same time then, the cautionary tale of authoritarianism is lost on the left---unless someone from the "other side" is somehow involved in it.

Stories about the TSA doing these things to citizens have been legion. It is the Stanford prison experiment writ large.

Since no one else will, at least we can be glad the snakes care.

Btw, the expression you're looking for is "crocodile tears."

"Snake tears" is urban slang for banging (in the having sex sense).

I guess the new unqualified Secretary of Education is perfect for you!

This is what happens when legislation is over-broad.

When Steve Bannon overruled the DHS on readmitting green card holders from the banned countries -- you had strong evidence of ignorance and inhumanity.

Treating regular people like criminals -- that's the province of dictatorships -- as is implementing rules without input from the affected agencies (DHS-State Dept.) and the professionals staffing them.

Our system of checks and balances promises to be tested and retested as Trump tries to legislate his gut feelings.

Mitch McConnell is already on record saying their will be no investigation into the voter fraud committed by 3 million undocumented aliens.

I hate to say it, but isn't this all rather normal for the TSA? They are rather known for treating all people terribly.

Two thoughts:

(a) Detaining and handcuffing seems a bit beyond the usual complaints folks have with TSA.

(b) Flying to and from Ohio for Christmas, I was in a wheelchair (still can't handle long distances), toting an oxygen concentrator, and carrying an ID that had expired while I was in the hospital. That meant a fair bit of TSA face time, and everyone I encountered was polite, professional, even kind.

You're too much of a fucking idiot to understand that not every single Muslim is a member of ISIS, but are you capable of grasping that this is not a thread about Muslims at all?

My guess is no.

A sobering read. | Emphases mine.

A week ago, men and women went to work at airports around the United States as they always do. They showered, got dressed, ate breakfast, perhaps dropped off their kids at school. Then they reported to their jobs as federal government employees, where, according to news reports, one of them handcuffed a 5-year-old child, separated him from his mother and detained him alone for several hours at Dulles airport.

At least one other federal employee at Dulles reportedly detained a woman who was traveling with her two children, both U.S. citizens, for 20 hours without food. A relative says the mother was handcuffed (even when she went to the bathroom) and threatened with deportation to Somalia.

At Kennedy Airport, still other federal employees detained and handcuffed a 65-year-old woman traveling from Qatar to visit her son, who is a U.S. citizen and serviceman stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. The woman was held for more than 33 hours, according to the New York Times, and denied use of a wheelchair.

* * *

When we worry and wonder about authoritarian regimes that inflict cruelty on civilians, we often imagine tyrannical despots unilaterally advancing their sinister agendas. But no would-be autocrat can act alone. As a practical matter, he needs subordinates willing to carry out orders.

The men and women who reportedly handcuffed small children and the elderly, separated a child from his mother and held others without food for 20 hours, are undoubtedly "ordinary" people. What I mean by that, is that these are, in normal circumstances, people who likely treat their neighbors and co-workers with kindness and do not intentionally seek to harm others. That is chilling, as it is a reminder that authoritarians have no trouble finding the people they need to carry out their acts of cruelty. They do not need special monsters; they can issue orders to otherwise unexceptional people who will carry them out dutifully.

Of course they are and in a normal world the people would be crying that the president said to detain them, and that doesn't require this kind of shit to carry out. But in the trumps world all the tsa agents are really gentle kind folk and the only reason they are acting like this is because the clown made them do it. And if we only elect democrats from now on everyone will be hugging and farting rainbows by the end of the week.

im sorry, this is just too rich to pass up especially given the pompous ass espousing it.

skeptical of the claim that "snake tears" is a slang expression for having sex---from the perspective of never having heard it before, and it being weird from a syntax perspective (we made snake tears?)---I took a quick peek in the urban dictionary:

an internet search for the phrase gives a contributor named "snake tears" and here is what he wrote:

quote:

Sexual Combat

Banging [that word look familiar?] or having sex. But before you finish with the person your banging, you must yell out MORTAL KOMBAT! and either the person your banging or your friends, preferably your friends, must yell out FINISH HER! Then you must preform some sort of cool move resembling one from mortal kombat, this move must involve your semen.

"Wow i cannot belive you challenged Nora to sexual combat, what was your fatality"

"I totally threw some semen in her face....just like sub zero"

#fatality #sex #intercourse #sexual combat #sexual kombat

http://www.urbandictionary.com/author.php?author=Snake%20Tears

there is no entry for "snake tears" in the urban dictionary.

there is no entry in the online slang dictionary either, nor at dictionary.com

so my quick guess is, the comrade did an internet search for snake tears, saw the first entry on the search results, read it poorly and didn't actually go to the dictionary. heres what it looked like:

quote:

Urban Dictionary: Author Snake Tears
www.urbandictionary.com/author.php?author=Snake Tears
Banging [note the word] or having sex...

unless theres some other source for urban slang out there??

Just because the left doesn't buy into the batshit crazy paranoia the right would constantly spew about Obama doesn't mean that there were never left-wing criticisms of Obama.

The difference is that they were realistic as opposed to insane... and when they didn't agree with your insanity, you dismissed them as brainwashed idiots who can't think for themselves.

Indeed, bounty, we all sleep under the same stars, and live under the same google....

MM, please don't consider yourself singled-out. Feel free to be ashamed on behalf of anyone who generally agrees with you.

Bounty, great job on shutting down the avenue for the fake apology "I heard it from my urban friend, and must have misunderstood him..."

There is one and only one believable explanation, and I believe you're spot on. Someone was after some low-hanging fruit from a bosc tree and decided that neither there own music, nor mystery, agony or ecstasy was sufficient, and needed a little help from his friends.

His friends in this case turned out to be cow dung.

Throw in a pathetic little dig at both BoscoX and Betsy DeVos.

But now: .--. .- -.. .. --- ... .. .-.. . -- -... . (Radio silence). Is MILO right? Is this what happens when one brushes off the spittle and throws a few data their way? If this were a face-to-face discussion, is this where you would pick up a stick and seek to smack someone with it?

The only thing that remains to be seen is whether someone can make the connection between testosterone, not as a poison as asserted earlier in the thread, but an elixir for truth.

Come on, MM, put your hand down your pants and TESTIFY in the word's original sense. I'm sure you've got something honest to say this time.
