Because women earn less, rely more on benefits, and are much more likely than men to be single parents, the cuts affected them disproportionately. I really have to hand it to whoever wrote this nifty sentence is incredible. This is spinning elevated to an art. quote:
Because women earn less, 1) Women have agency and are responsible for their own career decisions. Women, as a whole, make decisions that lead to lower wages than men. Choices such major, jobs with more time off, and having/raising kids. quote:
rely more on benefits, 2) Due to numerous human and societal factors, women have successfully convinced the government that they should lead lives with roughly the same quality as that of men, despite their own agency leading to the disparity of wages in the first place. quote:
and are much more likely than men to be single parents, 3) Women have SOLE agency as to whether or not to become a parent; the man has no say once the sperm leaves his body. Additionally, women initiate somewhere between 66% and 75% of divorces, while winning custody of children approximately 82% of the time. These choices further exacerbates the point found above. quote:
the cuts affected them disproportionately. 4) Despite explicit agency for their own situation, women require assistance from a male-funded government to ensure that they are able to maintain the same lifestyle as a man. I really am amazed at the level of skill it takes to wind these simple facts into a compelling narrative like the one we've seen here. Hats off to whoever created this incredibly succinct repackaging of the facts. I think we can learn from this.
