I still think it is a stupid way to try and bring awareness to an issue. It just makes him look churlish. As far as "awareness" goes. Give me a break. That is about as useful as all of the pink crap in October or November. People either know about BLM and Breast Cancer by now, or they will just never know because they are living in a cave somewhere and never get near any humans. Let's face it, the purpose of virtue signaling and moral outrage is to show everyone else that you are, in fact, a "very good person."

its a tough issue for me---I think the key would have been to have found a way to protest without having disrespected a symbol of the freedoms we have that allow such a protest in the first place. I cant say for sure, but I suspect in the final analysis, he might have done more harm than good by that.

Never, ever did I say that Kaepernik didn't have a right to protest. I think I said, here that I found myself in agreement with Ruth Bader-Ginsburg on the issue, but I did go a step further ... I felt just like Slim Fast© ended their relationship with Whoopie, he was bringing "disdain" upon his employers' product and that the 49ers or the NFL had the right to (and should have) brought him back into the tent. The guy had a big enough platform (off the field) where he could have gotten his message out and I am sure the 49er and NFL bean counters have realized that 40% of their down-turn in profits this year were attributed to Kaepernik's behavior (along with a few others). Hmmm. . . .wonder where that number came from. The average increase in valuation this past year was 19%. Only 7 of the 32 teams had a valuation increase less than 10% All had an increase. I realize profit is a separate animal. But does the 40% account the bottom line for each team? Does it include revenues from stadia, from TV contracts, gate receipts? Wot!? Each team is a privately owned entity. Do you have profit reports for each of 32 teams? Would love to see your source, Michael.
