please note: i suck at starting posts . i always think i am asking the question i want to ask but some how it gets misinterpreted...the part in red is the part i am wondering about, all the rest is just for contex.... this is from a post i made this morning:(edited to try to be more clear) quote: i have never met anyone in this lifestyle for an extended period of time that did not switch. in life i think we all have people we are in awe of, and in the presence of them we become submissive, ie, wanting to please them, wanting their approval, wanting to serve them, being reverent to them. i think we have all met people that we feel superior to as well, and we have no issue making them bag our groceries, clean our car ect... for example some folks would turn into quivering jello if they met a famous star, others like Oprah have a comfort and an ease about that, but even Oprah turned into jelly when she met some one she idolized Sidney Poitier. For me, i meet famous folks all the time in my line of work, it does nothing for me, but when put in front of Wane Dyer and Ram Das i turned into a puddle of incoherant goo. now when it comes to sex i really dont think it is all that different. i think that we react in a primal level to our sexual attractions and i would hope that a Domme or Dom would come on this thread and prove me wrong and say that they have never felt a feeling of submissiveness (maybe too strong a word but something akin to it) in the presence of a person of the opposite sex they wanted to fuck... that would be interesting...

Wow, excellent post. This is an idea I thave been tossing around in my head...so I would add a question to your question, as well as an answer to your OP. Yes, there are people who's compassion, wisdom, ethics, and personal power make me quiver and given the opportunity to meet face to face, I can only imagine my knees would bend of their own accord. There is a Dominant on here - and he should KNOW who he is, but is probably too modest to even consider it would be him - who if I turned the corner and ran into him I think the breath would whoosh out of my body and I would be on my knees with my forehead on the floor. Just wondering if anyone else would care to identify such a powerful presence in their own minds?

Tried it when I thought it was the way to start out in BDSM. Hated it and scared the crap out of the poor souls who tried to top me. Just isn't who I am. Egalitarian? Maybe but probably not that either. Just getting turned makes me feel in control and become demanding. And when I love someone I just naturally start feeling dominant toward them.

Actually that is a perfect example of those I would want to dominate! But to answer the question in all seriousness. I have never met someone face to face that had the sort of presence and power that makes me feel that way. I think it would be good for me and scary in a good thrilling way, but nope, nothing close so far.

Yep real life. Angelina Jolie is submissive anyhow (Has said as much in some interview or other or so I am told).... But yes, regardless of who it is, taking control is part of HOW I show affection, some girl who also needs to take control in the same way, we are simply not going to be compatable, regardless of how well we get on in other areas. Just as being a gentleman is part of me, or being protective is part of me, or having a damn Daddy Dom dynamic when my girl is afraid or hurt.... it is just who I am and there an't ANYONE out there for whom I will stop being me.

I don't think I'm a switch at all. I will try to be pleasing to someone I respect and admire, and may even let him lead at times... But for anything involving a relationship, I wouldn't last at all trying to obey/follow someone else's rules. If you mean considering switching at playtime, that I might do on occasion if... M

Never considered switching. I like to be in charge. Now of course you still have to pick your battles in life and understand that you cannot always be in charge (work, military service, police, etc.)

I honestly tried being a switch and found I hated it. I'm Dominant and thats all there is too it. I don't enjoy pretending (yep) to be submissive, I don't like not having control and I hate the feeling of serving someone. I have never felt the urge with anyone to totally give over all control of me, I would hate it with a passion. Therefore in my relationship when I get the urge to be spanked or flogged I tell my sub to do it and when to stop. Yes topping from the bottom I guess you would label it but it works for us. ~Lashra
