Fair enough
It certainly clarified the meals on wheels subject,
good find.

It's just more of the same typical hysteria. "Everybody keep panicking - Bush is Hitler, Trump is Hitler, anyone who isn't communist is waging war on the poor and the elderly and women and immigrants and gays blah blah blah "

What about the current nutsuckers which are decidedly commies? Nobody is panicking, we are aghast at the nutsucker propensity for falsehoods, pimping pedophiles, and their bathroom antics, and their Russian catamitism.

I agree, we have no argument. I just wish to know what your definitions are and if you recognize a difference. Conflating words and meanings is just a crummy debating trick.

Let's start with this word: "War" - hateful leftist rhetoric employed to sew division, and undermine reasonable, rational discussion

Then move on to "the Poor" - people who have smart phones, cars, houses, and so much food that Michelle Obama introduced inedible school lunches in order to fight a "fat epidemic"

We also have "war on drugs" as a gift from the Right Rev Richard Nixon and the never ending "war on terror" from that dim minded GW Bush.

So, to you there really is no difference between leftist and liberal. You just lump them all together.

The poor get the shaft when bankers and speculators destroy economies. We have had several examples here, the latest in 2008.

Give us an example or two when Leftists destroyed economies "time and time again."

Venezuela and Cuba off the top of my head.

Venezuela went down hill when the IMF imposed an austerity regime and the poor rioted, thus leading to the leftist government. When Chavez took over in 1999 the poverty rate was above 23% By 2011 before the oil bust it was down to 8.4%

Batista had sold out Cuba to the Mafia casino interests from whence he took a slice. Cuba was owned by American interests from sugar to prostitution.

Let us not be mislead into thinking everything was hunky dory in those nations before their leftist revolutions. History does not begin when you wish it to.

Donald Trump is going to cut Meals on Wheels to pay for Mexican border wall
The president appears to be prioritising his promised wall along the US-Mexico border which will receive an immediate $1.5bn (£1.2bn) cash injection

Community projects like Meals on Wheels and housing assistance are set to lose out on all of their government funding if Donald Trump's budget blueprint for the coming fiscal year is passed by politicians.

The president's proposals include the complete elimination of the $3 billion (£2.4 billion) Community Development Block Grant program, which funds those programs along with other community assistance efforts.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will also see its funds slashed.

The president appears to be prioritising his promised wall along the US-Mexico border which will receive an immediate $1.5bn (£1.2bn) cash injection, with another $2.6bn (£2.1bn) if his spending plans for the 2018 budget year are approved by the House of Representatives.

Cutting meals on wheels....yeah thats not hurting anyone is it.

other in detail info at http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-budget-idUSKBN16M1DO

Meals on Wheels should be handled by the states. It is a local community issue.

Then perhaps Texas and California should deal with the Mexican border between themselves on a State level, rather than expecting the Fed to handle it for them.

Apples and oranges.

Hugo's party nationalized things (99), and for what, 4 years 03-07), things went well. Then they pretty much found out it was unsustainable. Things have went downhill since.

Cuba? In the time I have been alive, 40 years or 2 generations, Cuba has NOT had a good economy. I don't care what that fat douchebag Michael Moore says.

Russia and CHina's economies are pretty shakey right now. The petro states economies are less than good right now. Portugal's economy is interesting. Most of the African economies are poor. I have no idea about India right now, although I guess Bollywood is doing well.

Well, current Russian and Chinese economies cannot be called leftist. They are more market oriented controlled thugeries. Tells me it doesn't matter Left/Centered/Right if your economy sells oil and the price goes down there will be problems. Although, about China, not so sure.

Chavis nationalized oil probably for the same reason Iran did in the 1950s or thereabouts.

Cuba? You don't suppose the crash of the Communist world and the concurrent U.S. embargo had an effect on their economy, hey?

So, Trump's budget cuts out winter fuel subsidies for the old and poor, and Meals on Wheels will have to cut back on serving impoverished elderly and veteran shut-ins.

Cruel bastards, the Right

I think the point is that these issues should be handled by the local community (states) rather than be an issue for the Federal Government to handle. It's re-allocating responsibility where it belongs.

I think that the simple left versus right binary that seems to be in favor on this forum does not work that well with any of the economies on this Earth.

Chavis was a socialist and so was the constitution he helped create which did nationalize so much.

Cuba - they could have fixed their economy. Castro liked it like it was. All power to the party! Seriously though, with just a little work it could have been a wonderful tourist place again.

And yes, the Petro states are pretty screwed because the only thing they have is oil. They have neglected to create anything else to export, other than terrorists.

The reason for meals on wheels was needed in the first place is because people were dying of hunger Because the community charity failed. Dismally.

Well then those are the kind of discussions we need to start having. Where has the old-fashioned values of caring about our elderly gone and is that the kind of society we want to be. We can't expect the Federal Government to supply all of our humanity for us.

Millions and millions and millions of Chinese were starved to death under communism, you can't blame that on any embargo. And Cuba had no embargo with the Soviet Union or other communist countries, so what was the problem

beside the fact that communists can't provide their own toilet paper or anything else

That died, if you think you can bring it back, good luck.
The community found the need so great, it couldnt care about need, it cared about free market capitalism and blame the needy for their reliance on "charity"

the program has its origins in WWII times as a result of hardships due to the war. not because old people were dying of hunger per se.

those are not the conditions today, nor were they the conditions within a relatively short time after the war.

not all "meals on wheels" programs are directed by government agencies. in fact, it seems quite a few are not.

further, even those that are, while obviously getting funds from the government, are overwhelmingly staffed and run by volunteers and not all the funding comes from the federal government, some comes from the state.

this is not to say in the least that meals on wheels is not a worthy endeavor. its rather to say that the federal government doesn't need to be funding it, and seniors aren't going to be dying from hunger if they don't. they never were.

What is the lie and what is the disinformation.
Please give some proof?
Please not just more drivel?

Not to mention that 50 % Of the population earn less than 31,000 a year.
How can they pay what they dont earn?

Welfare programs serve two purposes. 1., they serve as means for corrupt fat cat leftist politicians to purchase votes with hard earned tax dollar, and 2., they harm the people by among other things creating dependence and destroying economies. Monies used to purchase votes would work far harder in the free market to reduce poverty

The rallying cry of the useful idiot leftist is always something along the order of, "Poor stupid helpless blacks - we are going to rob Peter so that you will never have to work for those rich smart white bastards again!! "

Or, "If you kick out all of the Hispanics, who is going to clean your toilet Donald Trump???"

Or, "We know women are totally helpless victims without US micromanaging everything..."

Invariably something like that

Rightist welfare programs serve two purposes.

Maintain or increase contributions to the right and increase profits.

You make a good point, Aylee. I live in a county that is over 1300 square miles in area. People have serious travel handicaps if they are without a car.

Which reminds me, of how leftists work to make travel unavoidable for the poor. Canceling pipelines, closing off oil fields, working to tax every form of energy to the point that it is out of reach for the poor on account of their "global warming" cult

"No heat, no car, no air conditioning for you grandma, and everything costs a fortune to ship - sorry not sorry"

Bah.... the price of oil has dropped because of oversupply.

Despite the leftist agenda

What leftist agenda ? It's because of leftist Obama's policies.

Those pipelines might just as well be called the Koch brother's pipelines as they will ship Koch brother's oil to Houston and be exported tax free.

Corporate share of federal tax revenue has dropped by two-thirds in 60 years — from 32% in 1952 to 10% in 2013.

That's a good start

Seen the jobs report lately?

BOOM!

And not a single one of those jobs created because of any corp. tax cut.

No corp. tax cut for 2016 yet 2.2 million jobs created.

Out of the Fortune 500, the top job cutters in the US and only 10 cos....killed 200,000 jobs and by May of 2016.
