I believe war to be a colossally bad idea, that being said; from the beginning of time, war has resulted in the death of “civilians”, sometimes whole cities would be razed with every man, woman and child being put to death. Just look at WWII for example, what with the firebombing of Dresden and the nuking of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, it is hard to think that “zero civilian casualties” was a major concern, in fact it looks more like “civilian casualties” were considered to be one of the keys to victory. So, the idea of war with “zero civilian casualties” is a fairly recent concept, an attempt to sanitize warfare, if you don’t kill any “civilians” then you’re the “Good Guys”. Which leads the “Bad Guys” to hang out in “civilian” areas, to stay in the basements of hospitals and orphanages or surround themselves with “civilian” hostages, thus resulting in lots of “civilian” casualties so the “Good Guys” can be labeled “Bad Guys”. But in War there are no “Good Guys” or “Bad Guys” there are only “winners” and “losers” and the faster the war is over the better for everyone, especially “civilians”.
