grins at Bita:) PS greta, Im 55 and still bleeding, Ive been going thru it for more than 15 years. now I admit, I have the screwiest hormone issues, and other problems, but menopause doesnt have a definitive start or finish, unless there are surgical measures I totally agree with Bita, about learning about what is possibly ahead for you in menopause And how your body actually works.

Another thing, too..just because the bleeding stops doesn't mean the cramps do and you can continue to bleed even if you stop releasing eggs for several months or years after you can no longer get preg. You can still get preg after you stop bleeding as well and you can stop bleeding for a long time then suddenly start again. The whole damn things a bit of a crap shoot! Diet and other things can also effect menses and gymnasts on the elite level (other sports, too) are notoriously shy of proper cycling because of poor eating habits and compulsory exercise to maintain elite status. Thankfully, for gymnasts at least such thing are being scrutinized these days..a good thing.

Greta, sometimes you really do say the most ridiculous things. Of course there are cases of women that have never bled. Those that do Gymnastics, and hard core sports will often never have a period. Somehow I think they are going to fight you very hard on their female status. Mind you, I do know a few men that have bigger ovaries than some of us women [:D] Needles

I know that there are connections between gymnastics and anorexia as well as late or abandoned menstruation, and I thought there was supposed to be some sort of connection there?

True, there can be, but it still doesn't stop them having kids. There are many reasons why women don't have periods, but to say that if you bleed you're a woman is just ridiculous. Some just don't. I have a friend from school that has never had a period in her life, so she's 45 this year that same as me, and has children. My dad knows a family where all the males had ovaries, and all the girls had un-descended testicles, and they were a large family too, so the girls apparently never had periods, but still had kids. Some people obviously lead more sheltered lives than I thought. Needles
