Where would prefer to live?

  1. Somewhere buzzing with all types of fantacy diversions and brimming with night life?
  2. Somewhere quiet, few people and no noisy night life?

These days I'll go for peace and quiet. No neighbours and lots of open space about me.... Tired of noise, confusion, and people all about me everywhere I look..

Somewhere quiet!!! Having grown up in New York City...and having worked most of my life in the inner city...give me crickets and loons any day of the week now. I have reached my buzzing city night life quota!

I kinda like the middle ground.  I cant stand desolate or rural.  And I cant stand the city life.  I love the suburbs and trees, and houses and green grass.  I love where I live.

I have to chose Rural. I mean uber rural at that. I live over 50 miles from the nearest town with over 500 people in it. I work in the middle of the mountains. So needless to say it would put me a little out of place to have to cope with a huge city setting. On a cool note though. Dayton Wyoming...the little town that i live 50 miles from is celebrating 100 years of being a town and brought in the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to play for the public for free. It is a big thing for someone like that to come into a small town. For those of you that don't know who Nitty Gritty are, they sing Fishing in the Dark

The way things are going in the USA, Canada might be a nice change, plus I think the climate would be more to my liking. But if I stay here I like to live out in the country with my house surrounded by by green acreage and no neighbors around for miles.

Born and raised in big (and I mean BIG!!!!) cities. Lived in the city all my life. I like the countrysode, but I would have to be pretty close to a relatively active urban centre, or i would get bored.
Besides, I like being able to pick up the phone and order in beer & curry

After having grown up in a fairly small town, i ventured to live in California back in the 70's for a few years...i was in awe of the people........LOTS of people.  I eventually went back to Michigan.   As the Universe would have it, i have moved once more from Michigan to Arizona.  I thrive on the beauty of my beloved Mountains........i can't say a whole lot for most of the people.  I have a few friends that would be missed dearly if left.  The crime here is and has escalated in just the few years i have been here.  I look forward to a quieter time and place with Thorns upon His return.

Definitely quiet and close to nature. We had that 30 years ago when we moved here, but civilization is now encrouching on our peace and quiet.

Having grown up in the Boston, Mass area I'd have to say quiet.
Where I live now at night there might be the passing car occaisionally but it's nice and quiet at night and you can look up and see the stars.
It's awful nice being so close to the ocean here too! I can leave the house and be on the beach in about 12-13 minutes.
Nightlife is 15-20 minutes away. Shows, concerts come to town.
I love it here!

Ocean front.  Crashing waves, fresh sea air, vastness of water...that is where I would like my life to be.

The country.  I grew up on a small farm near a tiny village, about an hour outside of a small town of about 4000 up in Northern Ontario.  The nearest neighbour was at least a mile, my nearest friend about 15 miles, and the nearest store about 20 miles.  I grew up being able to run around outside, whenever, however, with no curfews, and not too many rules.  We lived on a river with access to two sizable lakes, and we were surrounded by forest and wild animals.  I couldn't count on one hand the number of times I woke up to the dog barking, opened my eyes, and saw a bear watching me through the window from up a tree.  Or a porcupine.  As for quiet, it was never really quiet, all the crickets, and bugs, and animals about.  We even had our own bear, a Big old male that use to pass through behind our house every year around the same time.  We had a small barn, with a few horses, dogs, cats, and sometimes a cow or two.  It was a great time, and I miss it dearly.  There is nothing like being able to wake up, walk outside, and not see a single soul.

i love either extreme. i live in the most bustling nightlife-ish area in our city, which is nothing compared to a bigger city but still big enough, and i love it much more than i did living on the outskirts of town. mainly because i don't drive. if i do ever learn to drive, or when He and i move (and move in together), i could go to the other extreme. right now it's situationally expedient for me to live in the middle of things city-wise...and i love it anyway...but i also love rural quiet :)

i love where i am... slap bang in the middle of a National Park. Enough neighbours in the village to have people to laugh an dcry with and for my kids to have friends to play with but we still get to leave our doors open for the neighbours to come and feed the cats when we go on holiday. We have open space on our doorstep, miles of beach 5 mins walk from the house and mountains to gaze at at the back door.
Big cities don't do anything for me i'm afraid...

In an old neighbourhood of a city that is old. One with a variety of ethnic communities. With a river that runs to the oceanside of the city. But the location is too hemmed in by the sea and the mountains to have let it sprawl into nondescript suburbs. A rich culture of arts and activities. People friendly.

And I would own a nice little sailboat.

On a hundred quiet acres way out in the boonies, with a barred access road. And tall fenced, to keep the larger wildlife from messing with my crops and herds

I've never lived in a place where I am happier than I am now. A multi-ethnic multi-cultural neighbourhood in a very liberal and some would say loose and slutty city, Amsterdam. I like to take a sojourn in Kyoto several times a year which is a city I also love but am realistic enough to know I can't live there.

City, city, city, city. Countryside id for keeping cities apart, nothing else.

Somewhere quiet, but I would also like to like near the water.  I dont like big cities, lots of people.

There are advantages to both. If I had my full health I would definatly gravitate more toward the quiet and isolation however as things stand the better facilitys of the city make life manageable as well as interesting.
