Wicked, with respect to gun deaths - you can't lump them all together and say that getting rid of legal gun ownershjp will end or reduce homicides. Our culture, our dirty politicians and our greed infects America in such a way that removing the legal rights of citizens to own guns would result (in my opinion ) in the same problems we have faced with "the war on drugs." Let me elaborate a bit to bopefully pull these two thoughts together. I have a chronic disease and have lived with pain in varying degrees since I was a preteen. Because of prescription abuse, war on drugs etc., I could, if I was willing to break the law, make a phone call and pay for whatever pain meds I want. As a law abiding, non drug addicted individual, I have to jump through hoops and endure being treated like a drug addict drug seeking if I want pain medication. Personally, I manage my illness anx pain in ways where I seldom take narcotics. It is my belief that legislating guns in such a way as to make it almost impossible for citizens to legally obtain guns for legitimate reasons would result in a more career opportunities for criminals. It isn't that I oppose gun restrictions, it is simply that I believe the problem lies not in the legal ownership of guns but in the corrupt dealings that put guns into the hands of crim8nals as well as a huge problem with our health/insurance policies that makes getting proper treatment for mental health issues a large factor in gun death statistics. Basically, it all seems to be a gordian knot of a mess that no single party can address civilly let alone compromise enough on to find a solution to.
