A very ancient sentiment.

Should you, or anyone, like to meet up, I will be at the NRA Annual Meeting all four days. Conveniently, it is in the city where I live this year.

I wouldn't mind at all, unfortunately I can't travel at the present. Have fun.

Out of the pure hysteria that accompanied Obama's inauguration, accompanied by the skyrocketing price of some firearms and ammunition, I have seen a few positive things emerge. Interest in firearms, especially by women, seems to have risen considerably. Gun safety awareness and training have received greater emphasis in mainstream gun culture. I welcome an ebb in the craziness. Gun and ammo prices have already dropped considerably over the past few years. It makes my second-favorite hobby more affordable.

You may have noticed that these "hysterical " people buying guns set a new record for the lowest firearm safety rate in history.

Yes, though I continue to be disappointed, as I have for some years now, in the NRA's high profile in the political arena as opposed to our history as a gun safety and shooting advocacy group. I understand the reasons behind the marketing, but organizations like CMP have been much better at staying on target.

Good points.

Largely because you aren't interested in discussion. You're already convinced before the discussion starts.

Everyone else, to you, consequently, appears unreasonable.

I would be disappointed if the NRA didn't maintain a high profile in politics. If it wasn't for the NRA, the only thing that would be legal are muzzle loaders.

OK so I exaggerated a little but I would guess an entire class of firearms would be outlawed, handguns would be severely restricted, we'd have to jump through a crap load of hoops to get carry permits and in addition to psychological evaluations we'd have to register everything. It would pretty much be worse than California.

And the moment they require Psychological evaluation it puts firearms ownership out of reach for all but the wealthy. If the evaluation is free it will be done by people who understand that if one wrong person gets a gun their practice is finished, so again nobody will get one.

I'm just sharing the data. You have no clue as to what "my side" might be.

And you're spinning as fast as you can.

Point: sales jumped 5x
Point: sales fell

Any accounting for reality has to acknowledge that data, or it's bullshit.

Right you don't have a side.
You are just siting facts.
And for some reason you can only find facts that show that while the anti gun crowd
constantly attack gun rights their attacks shouldn't count because they are so incompetent
they make the three stooges look brilliant. I am giving you facts and a refusal to see them is BS.

Citing.

What do you need to be sited.
His vague claims that gun owners are hysterical with not supporting evidence?
Do you need for me to cite that every time they had an excuse the gun grabbers tried to pass a bunch of anti gun laws that even they said wouldn't have stooped the incident that they claimed was the reason for the
new laws?
Do you want me to cite the well covered lies Obama gave about how easy it was for children to get assault weapons?
Do you want me to cite that Attacks against rights count as attacks even if they are conducted by the Keystone cops?
Or do you want him to explain That an attack against right don't count if they fail.
Do you want a citation that counting failing attacks as a take ignores reality, or do you want a citation that pretending that if it fails then the attacker clearly did want to weakenthat rigt.
Maybe I should give a cite that anytime you try to make something harder to get you increase interest in hoarding that object whatever it is.
Maybe we could use a cite why.

A It is any of his business how many guns other people own and
B Why it is automatically bad.

I was simply offering a correctly spelled word.

Did you want to cite something?

Ok that makes more sense.

I'm so glad.

Not much need for me to cite anything since my claims of actions have been well covered by the press.
Much of it will adoration that either congress "will do something at last" and that Obama was trying do get something do even if he couldn't get what he wanted through Congress.

(English please...I'm confident others would appreciate it as well).

Other than that I was pointing out that when there appears to be an impending shortage of anything people rush to get it. If you remember the "gas shortages " in the 70's that everyone panicked over.

(Did you feel a need for a comma......or possibly...connecting thought processes anywhere? Sue me dude...perhaps others may appreciate something that connects us to the OP....as well as...wherever the flying fuck you're going with this but....of course...I digress...)

They limited gas purchases. Shiiiit....serious? Well....that's pretty much...in general....kinda fucked up....yeah?

"They"?. Sorry...my bad...(I was certain we we're discussing gun purchases....please let me know when we switch from one subject to another....it helps me stay focused.

It turned out that not only did the shortage never reached the pumps (which...has nothing to do with gun purchases), but once they established purchases (<<< comma)....................."this then" limits sales (comma..."and then....oddly"...) actually went up (in price? Volume? Please help me....where are we going?) because people would get ("to"????) the max a couple of times a day, and they were using up gas waiting in line. (Buying....guns?)

As for some sloppiness in my Typing I had another stroke last month and my right hand doesn't work real well yet.

My apologies (sincerely).

(Thankfully....as a single man....my right hand works exceptionally well).

(And...just {sorry} one more quick assignation {I'm kind of a spelling Nazi/asshole...sue me}....it's "very"....not "real"....right....I'll stand down now).

Look at them for the pathetic wretches they are - Observers - pants down at their ankles via the law of gravity, bulging in the complete filth of all their being. Are they not a sight to behold, to be marvelled - by hurling several buckets of shit at the wreckage and then launching the moon towards their feeble brain boxes - suffering from a goats cock embeded in the dullards cranial cavity..

You might want to check with the batf on that.
There was an article in the a.r. about that very thing. According to the batf any weapon that can be made to fire full auto is illegal even if that was not the original purpose. Browning showed that he could make a lever action and a bolt action fire full auto. He also sketched out a design to make a trap door springfield fire full auto.

Tell us miss-infoman what part of that increase was due to inflation and what part was due to the 'fear factor'?

a 250% jump in price due to inflation over a 5 year period?

I did not say that dumbass. Rtmfq

I'm not sure if you understand how inflation works... But on average - you're looking at a below 2% inflation rate yearly during that time period...

Cite please.

http://www.inflation.eu/inflation-rates/united-states/historic-inflation/cpi-inflation-united-states.aspx

Between 2007 and 2012 the average inflation per year was 1.8%
so - inflation accounts for 0.09 cents in it's jump from 5 cents to 12 cents.

Your figures are a little off, Your understanding of inflation is non existant. See if you can get an adult to explane addative and compound.

https://www.thebalance.com/u-s-inflation-rate-history-by-year-and-forecast-3306093

And actually that was what you where specifically implying by questioning how much of it's price increase was influenced by Inflation...
as if it had a much larger role in the price increase then the increase in demand caused by fear.

Now you are a mind reader...isn't that special?
The question is: out of a .07 cent increase how much was inflation. The figures I have posted indicate about .02 cents of the .07 was due to inflation.

The shelf life of humans is shorter dumbass. The military is still using ammo made before world war 2.
Jesus you are phoquing stupid.

Really... What ammunition exactly?

I am interested to know what ammo we use which was made before world war 2 considering that a majority of our guns no longer fire those caliber of munitions...

.45acp, .50

Wrong and Wrong.

The United States Military only Issues 9mm ammunition for it's side arms.
SOF operators where authorized to use 3 caliber types of handguns - those being the .40 S&W, 9mm, and .45ACP - however because the weapon is not 'Standard Issue' the Military does not provide the weapon nor the ammunition for the weapon... Officially - the MARSOC (the one group which actually remade the colt 1911 as the M45a1 for it's SOF operators) officially issues the Glock19 as it's SOF standard issue side arm... a 9mm hand gun.

The marine corps says otherwise. Only a chairborn ranger would use soldier of fortune magazine as a source.
Jesus you are phoquing stupid.

The United States Military no longer uses the .50 BMG M2 ammunition which was made before and during World War 2... We use the .50 BMG M33 ammunition. And we're currently transitioning to an even more modern .50 BMG round - the Mk 323 mod 0 which uses a polymer coat rather then brass, which supposedly cut's the weight per round by some 20% not sure it's going to take though.

We use the same Caliber ammunition from before world war 2 in a handful of weapons...
.50 BMG, 105mm Howitzer, 155mm Howitzer, 9mm, etc.

But we don't Issue or Use Ammunition produced from before World War 2.

and the average Cargo Container can hold ~1 million rounds of 5.56 NATO ammunition.

The "average" container is either 20' or 40' long[8|]

We still have .236 Navy rounds left over from the Spanish American War... but it isn't like we are using them.
Not that we even have rifles that can fire such a round.

If they have them I would like to buy some. That is what the 220 swift is made from.

Because it is rather hard for me to believe that a 1.8% inflation rate some how adds up to account for 28% of the cost increase.
it kinda defies... basic math.

but please - provide proof... figures... citations... which support this mathematically impossible statement please.

thompsonx -> RE: FOX: Trump bad for gun sales (4/5/2017 10:08:01 PM)

Here is a s&w blog site. Note the dates of mid 2016 indicating prices as low as .05 cents a round up to .10 cents a round. It looks like you have been pedeling shit again.

http://smith-wessonforum.com/ammo/483181-price-22-ammo.html

thompsonx -> RE: FOX: Trump bad for gun sales (4/5/2017 10:10:23 PM)

A picture of an ammo box is not a citation, it is a picture of an ammo box.
Marine corps times is not a marine corps publication. It says that right on the cite you posted

thompsonx -> RE: FOX: Trump bad for gun sales (4/5/2017 10:43:19 PM)

The cite I posted shows that the inflation rate was
4.1 for 2007
0.1 for 2008
2.7 for 2009
1.5 for 2010
3.0 for 2011
1.7 for 2012
Each years rate multiplies the previous year.
How much does this add to a .05 cent bullet?
What percentage of the total increase does that equal?
That was the question I asked you.
Now can you do the math or will you need to find a grown up to help you?
As the comments in the s&w blog indicate the price of .22 ammo in mid 2016 when obama was still president and it looked like bills wife was ahead in the polls, .22 ammo was readily available at .10 cents a round (not .12 as you claimed) and as cheap as .05 cents a round if one looked carefully.
